Sony Xperia smartphone/tablet owners have access to some exclusive content/apps and games too with the PlayStation Certified content. But Sony has decided to offer something for the rest of the Android camp too by announcing the Xperia Lounge app, which is available for both Xperia and non-Xperia devices, as Sony mentions in its blog post. Xperia Lounge will give Android users users access to games, music, contests and everything to do with Sony. The app is available for download on the Google Play Store. It’s interesting that Sony would make this app available for rest of the Android camp, as manufacturers these days want to keep things fairly exclusive. The app is compatible with devices running on Android 2.2 (Froyo) and up.
Here’s what Sony mentioned in its blog post:
Exclusives from Coldplay – limited edition artwork, the video for their latest single; Hurts Like Heaven and a chance to win one five exclusive framed stills from the video.
Celebrating the DVD release of The Amazing Spider-Man – win an all expenses paid trip to New York. A must for all Spidey fans; we’re throwing in a a superhero tour of New York and a day at some of the Big Apple’s (biggest and best) climbing walls.
Adrenaline junkies will know Mega Ramp is one of extreme sports’ most exciting events, and now you can take the drop on your smartphone! This is a free thrill exclusive to Xperia and only available to download for through Xperia Lounge until November 30th 2012 – so hurry and get your skates on!
In December 2012 Japan will play host to the best club football teams in the world. It will be the 9th edition of the FIFA Club World Cup; a FIFA organised tournament between the champion clubs from each continental confederation. For your chance to win one of four pairs of tickets to the Semi finals, all you need to do is answer a simple multiple choice question!
Sony still has some exclusive content for Xperia users, so they need not feel let down. Its seems like a great idea to pep up the buzz and bring in some exclusive content to all Android users, its usability though is still to be tested. Regardless, the app won’t bring anything substantially new to the table. Head over to the Google Play Store to download the app from the link provided below. What do the Xperia users think of this new development? And how does Xperia Lounge run on your “non-Xperia” smartphone? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
