Another week, more LTE locations for AT&T

AT&T LTE

AT&T's march toward a network full of 4G LTE data continues, with three new cities announced (so far) this morning. They are:

  • Wilkes-Barre, Penn.
  • Nashua, N.H.
  • Grand Rapids, Mich.

So, that's three more to go along with the dozens we've seen go live in the last few months. If you're still waiting, hang in there. The ball's a-rollin'. And if you've got an LTE-capable device, keep your eye on that data indicator.

AT&T launching new 4G LTE markets

AT&T 4G LTEAT&T continues its 4G LTE rollout today with a few new markets. Customers in Daytona Beach, Florida; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and York, Pennsylvania should start seeing 4G LTE go live in the coming week for their capable devices.

As we continue to see, weeks where Verizon rolls out several new markets, AT&T rolls out just a few. AT&T isn't far behind though (going quicker than Sprint), projecting that it will cover a vast amount of America in the coming months. In the end, everyone wins when we have multiple companies pushing out LTE at a quick rate here in the states.

Another day, another LTE launch; Sacramento, California is now bathed in AT&T LTE coverage. This follows closely on a bunch of expansions last week, and is a continuing part of AT&T's plan to cover a healthy chunk of the U.S. population by the end of the year.

Diamond Multimedia AMP1000 Android Media Player/Set-Top Box ICS Update Available For Download

1

About a week ago, I reviewed the Diamond Multimedia AMP1000 set-top box. Throughout the review, my one major complaint with the device was that the Android 2.3 interface is nothing short of terrible on a large display. The ray of shining light through it all, though, was the fact that Diamond promised an Android 4.0 update was coming soon.

I have to be honest here: I expected it to be weeks – or even months – before the ICS update was ready to go. But here we are, one short week later, and the update is now available for download.

Official Android Police t-shirts are now on sale, with over 25 designs to call yours.

Diamond Multimedia AMP1000 Set-Top Box Review: It’s Like Putting A Giant Gingerbread Phone In Your Living Room

thumb

While GoogleTV still hasn’t really taken off, the idea of an Android-powered set-top box is still a good one if properly executed. Diamond Multimedia recently tried its hand at such an execution with the AMP1000 (Android Media Player), its first venture into the Android realm.

But, like with any new project attempt, there is plenty of room for failure. As we’ve seen so many times before, what seems like a good idea on paper can easily be a disaster in execution.

While I wouldn’t go as far as calling the AMP a “disaster,” Diamond’s attempt at an Android box is… not very good.

Red Samsung Galaxy S III coming to AT&T

This image has no alt text

Want to get the Samsung Galaxy S III, but want more color options? If yes, then you might be interested in this red offering that’s up for pre-order at AT&T. Or you could just pick up a case, which I’d suggest because honestly, this looks pretty ugly to me. And I’m someone who loves red.

Thanks, Junior Luna
