Win one of 11 remaining Google Play Gift Cards – or a bonus Nexus 4!

We had the best of intentions, really. Thirty-one days in December, 31 days of contests. But — surprise, surprise — holidays and birthdays and sick days caught up with us. We've already given away some 20 Google Play Gift Cards worth $10 each. And now, with but hours to go before we here in the U.S. tip over into 2013, we're finally going to wrap this contest.

First, a quick reminder that all 31 winners are also in the running for a free 16GB Nexus 4, courtesy of us. If you've won one of the daily contests, or win one of the final 11 Gift Cards, you're automatically in the running.

But let's sweeten the pot, shall we? We're going to give away a second Nexus 4, and we're going to do it in this final contest.

It’s Developer Appreciation Month!

June is officially Developer Appreciation Month at Phandroid and we’ve got a ton of excitement planned!

When Android was announced in 2007, it was no secret that Google would have to rally the developer troops in order to accomplish the levels of innovation they imagined with Android. Ever since the first Android Developer Challenge, where thousands of developers submitted their apps, the development community has taken Android places that few dreamed possible. We’re taking the entire month of June to celebrate Android’s developers in a multitude of ways.

What can you expect during Developer Appreciation Month?

  • Developer Contests with prizes including a Google IO Ticket, Google IO Prize Packs, NVIDIA Tegra 3 powered phones & tablets, and much more!
  • Two entirely new website sections created specifically for developers
  • Interviews with Android Developers of all sizes and success levels.
  • Exclusive content from featured developers including app announcements, app/game reviews, price drops, guest posts, and more.
  • Tutorials, Case Studies, and content geared towards indie developers
  • A brand new Phandroid News app and complete site redesign coming later this month

We’ll also be at Google IO in San Francisco with some Phandroid swag to hand out to Developer fans, not to mention covering all the announcements and info!

There will be some more big announcements today, and of course all month long, so stay glued to Phandroid.com for one of the most exciting months in Android’s history. And thanks again to all of the developers whose combined contributions make Android what it is… the world’s best mobile platform.

Want to get involved in Developer Appreciation Month? Contact us and start your message with “Developer Appreciation Month”.

Don’t miss your chance to win! Sign up for our Developer Newsletter: it’s required to win most of our contests and it’ll feature some huge announcements that you won’t want to miss.

CONTEST: I’m Giving Away My Google IO Gifts

Every year, Google IO keeps getting bigger and better. And every year, Google keeps giving bigger and better gifts to Google IO attendees. Last year, I gave away all my Google IO gifts to one lucky winner, and this year is no different.

Well… maybe a LITTLE different…

That’s right folks: this year we’re giving away 3 Google IO Prize Packs!

How can you win?

The first thing you should do (if you’re a developer) is sign up for our Developer Month Newsletter. All contests will require winners to be on the Dev Month mailing list and it’s the best way to keep in touch with the most important contests and content for our big month. We’re not announcing specific details of our Google IO Prize Pack Contests just yet, and we’ll likely give them away in a few different ways, but consider this your heads up. Earlier today we gave you a chance at scoring an IO ticket and soon we’ll be giving you the chance to walk away with the goods.

What if you’re not a developer? We’re reserving one of the prize packs for our general readership so that everyone has a chance to win. And don’t be sneaky and pretend to be a developer if you’re not… developer focused contests will require winners to verify they’re a developer by proving they have an application or game on the Google Play Store (via matching E-Mail addresses).

We hope you’re enjoying the first day of Developer Month announcements. Stay tuned… there is plenty more to come!

June is Developer Appreciation Month at Phandroid. If you have something interesting to share and would like to get involved, please contact us.

Verizon loves Star Wars so much they want to give away 5 LG Spectrum’s, starting Tomorrow

Contests are a cool way to get your hands on a new device for nothing. A tweet just went out from @VerizonWireless alerting the public to be sure to follow them tomorrow. Why? Well, because they are gong to be giving away a new LG Spectrum everyday for a week. You have to follow their Twitter account to catch the details and find out how to enter. They did leave a hint at what to expect though and it involves some awesome Star Wars action. Here is the link from the tweet - pub.vitrue.com/yooT -

Why do you want to win a Spectrum? Well, cause it is free. I am not too terribly surprised they didn’t do something for the Galaxy Nexus, even though the name would be much more fitting for a contest involving Star Wars. Anyway, the Spectrum is still a pretty great phone. Offering you a 4.5-inch True HD display at 1280 x 720, 1.5 ghz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor, 8MP camera with 1080p video recording and a 1830mAh battery. Still only rocking Android 2.3, but heck, most everything still is. Not a bad little device if you ask me.

To find out how to enter and what tricks Verizon has up their sleeves, just pop over to their twitter account and follow.

Verizon Stores Receiving Droid Bionic Stock, Demo Units

This image has no alt text

Though Verizon is remaining mum on an official announcement (despite advertisements, viral marketing, and contests), the Motorola DROID BIONIC has made the long trek to the back rooms of some Verizon stores as the carrier stocks up for the launch of the highly anticipated handset. Also joining the Bionic on its journey are launch kits, which include live demo units for in-store display. We’re still waiting on any real word from Verizon, but we can say fairly confidently that you can plan on heading down to your local Big Red retailer next week to pick up the Bionic you fancy so much.

This old and busted Motorola Droid just won a new Droid 3!

Motorola Droid

It’s been a week or so since we asked you to show us your old and busted phones in hopes of winning our new hotness Motorola Droid 3. Upward of 600 entries later, we found ourselves a winner, plucked at random from the pile of decayed and decrepit phones. And it’s fitting, because Android Central Forums member lorzee just happens to have an original Motorola Droid that’s unlikely to be allowed through airport security.

But that’s not all. In addition to lorzee winning the Droid 3 (plus $50 worth of accessories and an Android Central T-shirt), we’ve got more winners.

  • tralfaz wins $50 worth of accessories, and an Android Central T-shirt.
  • And dra, trusteelfan and bacumings each wins an Android Central T-shirt.

Congrats, everybody! And we’ll absolutely have more contests coming up soon.

Are You Still Trying to get a Spotify Invite? Motorola can Help!

Just moments ago I posted about a Motorola sign up page that is offering up a Photon 4G. After I signed up for my chance to win, yes I toss my name in all the contests too, I was redirected to the another Motorola page. I found that Motorola has teamed up with Spotify to help bring it full swing to the U.S. They are offering up 100,000 Spotify invites to anyone that wants to register.

There is only one small catch, you will have to watch the YouTube video that is posted below the banner. During the clip and presentation of Spotify, there will be a small pop up on the screen. Click it before it disappears and enter your information. There is a *while supplies last clause, and I have no way of knowing if they are all gone or not. It doesn’t hurt to try though right?  Head on over to Motorola’s Facebook page to give it go.

Free Phones For Life Contest by Radioshack – Ends July 30th

Promotions and contests are always a fun thing to do in your spare time. Winning however seems to be an anomaly. There are so many out there to enter that often times we miss them. In my E-Mail this morning I received notice that Radioshack is holding a ‘Free Phones for Life’ contest. It ends on July 30th, so time is limited.

The contest is simple and provides you with 5 ways to enter. You can enter all 5 and many of them you can do each day to increase your chances to win.

I could use a free phone every year for the rest of my life. Don’t go thinking you will have to go a RadioShack every year for your free phone though. The prize is actually $25,000 cash. Which you could ultimately use on anything you want. To get started click on the image above or you can visit RadioShack.com

We are all about helping devs and users get their work seen and used. We are also dedicated to finding you guys the most reasonable contests around for your chance to win FREE stuff. Our good friends at RootzWiki is holding a new mascot contest. They love their current logo, but thought the community might be able to do better. After all, a logo is representation of company. The judging will commence on July 22nd. It will be all member based with a poll set in place for the community to vote on their favorite one.

official rules are pretty simple -

  • Nothing Obscene
  • Must be original
  • Must submit a picture to the thread stated below
  • No age group required
  • Needs to be an Android with a patch and teeth
  • *We prefer it stays cartoonish, No 3D renders please

10 Chances To Win A New Toshiba Thrive Honeycomb Tablet

This image has no alt text

I may have got word of this a little late in the game but apparently Toshiba has been running a promotional campaign for their upcoming Toshiba Thrive Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet. Basically, they’re giving away some of their tablets for free when you complete various “missions” on their site.

First mission was to “Like” your favorite new feature of their tablet. Mission 2 involved picking your favorite color for the tablet. Mission 3, from what I could tell, was dressing up as a robot and showing up in front of Universal Studios, Hollywood. Now, for their current mission, you have to watch a special unboxing video for the tablet and once the video reaches 10,000 views, it will unlock a special code you can then redeem on their site for a chance to take home your very own Toshiba Thrive.

I love it when manufacturers have fun contests like these that, not only get people buzzing but give them free stuff for their efforts. And I’m all for free stuff. Let us know if you guys win anything!

Winner Announced for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 “Unboxing War” Thanks Everyone!

Android wins again! The time has finally come and we are announcing the winner of our Unboxing War: Number One contest. In case you missed it, earlier in May we decided to spice up the unboxing and hands-on video of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 by doing two at the same time and let you — the readers decide who was best for a chance to win your very own Galaxy Tab 10.1 to enjoy. It was a close battle in the unboxing between Vince and Ben but in the end it was you readers that got to decide who was king.

It was a very hard choice as we received tons of entries on our Facebook Page. First off we would like to say Thank You to everyone that entered the contest this time around, you made it a huge success and for that we are grateful. And now for the Winner….. (Drum-roll)

Jorge Conty! Congratulations you are one lucky dude and the winner of a brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi. To see his winning comment Click here

Google IO Giveaway: It’s Already Yours! [CONTEST]

This image has no alt text

In 2009, Google had an “Oprah Moment” and gave all 4,000 attendees at Google IO a brand new Google Ion. In 2010, Google hooked everyone up with an HTC EVO 4G. It’s 2011, and Google IO starts on Tuesday… what will Google surprise us with this year?

Whatever it is, YOU have the chance to win it and entering couldn’t be easier. That’s right, assuming Google includes members of the press in their giveaway (they have the past two years), whatever they give to me, I’ll be giving to one of you.

HOW TO ENTER

  • Sign up to the Phandroid Newsletter (look to the top right of this page)
  • Pray that we randomly select you out of all our newsletter subscribers (only 1 winner)
  • We’ll E-Mail the winner sometime on Tuesday, May 10th (so you must stay subscribed until at least then to benefit)
  • Please note: if the giveaway is of an unreleased device, we’ll be using it to conduct a review before sending to the winner

STAY SUBSCRIBED?

Do yourself a favor and try out a couple editions of our weekly newsletter. There is SO much Android news it can be overwhelming, but each week we’ll boil it down for you and hook you up by:

  • Summarizing the hottest news you don’t want to miss
  • Highlighting Apps & Games from the previous week that are worth downloading
  • Offering tips, tricks & tutorials to help you get the most out of your Android device
  • Exclusive offers, downloads and contests!

WHAT WILL GOOGLE GIVE AWAY?

This is your chance to say “I told ya so”! Vote in the poll but if you’ve got a specific hunch as to what Google will be giving away at Google IO… leave a comment!
