AT&T, Sierra Wireless launch the AT&T Unite touchscreen hotspot for LTE on the go

Image

AT&T’s snagged exclusive rights to Sierra Wireless’ latest touchscreen LTE hotspot, the AT&T Unite. Packing a 2.4-inch display, the unit will keep you informed of your usage allowance, let you manage what devices are allowed access and tweak network settings without any additional fiddling. It’s able to handle up to 10 simultaneous connections and, naturally, can be added to existing Mobile Share plans for $20 extra per month. We asked if it wanted to reveal details of pricing and availability, but AT&T suddenly went all shy and hid under the couch — so we’ll have to wait and see.

Samsung Galaxy Grand – 5" display and 1.2GHz dual-core processor

Good lord, Samsung really does want to make 5″ screens the new default size. That’s what you get with the Samsung Galaxy Grand, which appears to be a mid-range Android model offering a 5″ display powered by a dual-core processor. It’s a bigger, slightly less powerful Galaxy S3 by the look of it.

Android 4.1 is the launch OS on the Galaxy Grand, with the only real downside here being the display resolution, which may look a little rough on that screen running at 480×800. There’ll be a dual-SIM version, too…

..which makes us suspect it won’t see a UK launch. But you never know. Love these Samsung info-pics. Everything you need to know in one image without any messy cutting and pasting.

LG to unveil ultra high resolution screens for phones and tablets at CES

LG has never been afraid of boasting about their displays in their mobile devices, and it looks like they’re ready to show up the competition at CES this year. In a lineup of incredibly high resolution displays, LG is set to show off a 1080p 5.5-inch screen for mobile phones, as well as a 1920 x 1200, 7-inch screen. They’re also showcasing a 12.9-inch 2,560 x 1,700 display. It’s likely to end up in laptops, but with that one little rumor about a 12-inch touch Chromebook to show up in 2013, it’s not a stretch to say we may see that display used in a few other things. We can hope, right?

Samsung wishing you a happy holidays with the Galaxy Note 2 and this fun video

I’ve always been a sucker for a good ad spot and it seems that lately, Samsung has been on fire releasing clever (and sometimes provocative) commercials for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 handsets. Today, Samsung uploaded another fun commercial showing off what happens when you combine the art of Kirigami and the ridiculously large display of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The results are magical. Take a look.

HTC Butterfly Ad In China Is Quietly Brilliant

HTC has really improved the marketing skills vastly. I guess you could say that they’re “quietly brilliant.” I know, that one was a bit of a long shot. The company just released the HTC Butterfly ad in China, and it’s actually really good. You can definitely tell they’re really pushing this device in China.

One thing that consumers are going to like is HTC isn’t touting what the device is capable of hardware-wise (does the everyday average consumer really care about hardware or just a good experience anyway?), they’re actually showing what you can do with the Butterfly’s 5-inch display. HTC also shows off what makes HTC stand out from all of the other Android devices out there, which is a plus for them, as not a whole lot of consumers really look into it. Aside from that, who would really want to look into it after HTC’s sales figures plastered all over the internet?
Regardless, make sure to check out HTC’s Butterfly ad below!

[Rumor] Galaxy S IV to have Unbreakable and Flexible Glass?

How is Samsung going to outdo themselves with the Galaxy S IV? Well besides putting an awesome camera on it, maybe some Key Lime Pie, giving it the ability to hypnotize us with its beauty; speculations say that they might be adding unbreakable glass to the phone’s display. Oh, and some flexible unbreakable glass just to make it better. Samsung has talked about having flexible glass on future devices, and guess what, we might be reaching that future. I think if anyone is going to revolutionize the smartphone, Samsung would be the one to do it. Which means the iPhone will get it in about 12 years. Let us know what you guys think.

That volume manufacturing may also play in nicely to [...]

Sharp to deliver a 5-inch 1080p smartphone most of the world can’t have

Sharp Aquos

The Sharp Aquos SH930W will be headed to Russia and Hong Kong, but we wish it would branch out a little bit. With a 1080p 5-inch display (now we know why Sharp was making them) on a chassis with very thin bezels, the Aquos looks ready to take on phones like the Droid DNA or Galaxy Note 2 while staying closer to a size we're all more comfortable with.

The specs won't knock your socks off — dual-core Snapdragon S4, 32GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, but it should still be quite the little performer. You'll want to check out the link below to see a few more pictures. Sharp, if you make this available unlocked I'm betting more than a few will buy it.

Huawei Ascend G330 now available on TalkTalk, from £10 a month

They said it would launch in December. But it’s available for pre-order now. Network TalkTalk is now taking orders for the Huawei Ascend G330, offering the updated, dual-core refresh of the popular original G300 on monthly tariffs starting at £10.

You probably want to spend a little more than that if you’re actually planning on using the SIM it comes with, mind, as this bargain £10 deal only gives you 200MB of data and 1200 calling minutes, but…

huawei-ascend-g330-talktalk

…other options are available with more STUFF to burn through. Given that you’re getting a relatively untouched version of Android 4.0 on a 4″ display with a dual-core processor behind it, the middle £15 bundle with its 1GB mobile data allowance ought to represent a pretty good deal.

Check it out here.
