ComScore: Android and iOS Continue to Climb, Rest of the Industry Falls
We haven’t mentioned many of these reports from marketing firms like comScore over the last few months because they have all painted the same picture for 2 years now. We’re talking smartphone operating share in the U.S., something that Android has had a stranglehold over for quite some time. After surging to the front of [...]

Another new wave of Nexus 4s shipping

Nary a moment too soon, word in our Nexus 4 forums is that another batch of the hard-to-buy (and harder-to-ship, apparently) smartphone is on its way to the good boys and girls. The phone's still sold out on Google Play, both in the 8- and 16-gigabyte versions, as are the rubber bumpers. (Interesting, though, is that it's saying we've reached our limit for bumper purchases, not that they're sold out. Apparently we're consider bumper horders or something.)
Anyhoo. Be on the lookout for a shipping e-mail if you haven't gotten on already.

We’re days away from 2013, so as we inch closer, the deals for our favorite apps, accessories, or phones are starting to creep in. The first notable sale we noticed, was one through Amazon and their Appstore. While I probably haven’t used the service in over a year, I fully understand the importance of its [...]

Google Search Receives Minor Update, Changelog Currently M.I.A.
This morning, Google Search received an update, but it must be quite minor given that Google didn’t update the changelog. The app did recently receive a big update, so we are guessing this is more of a bug fixing update or something along those lines. If you haven’t already, go grab it. Play Link Cheers ViZZiATO!

Early December Release Set For Nexus 7 Dock From ASUS?
For a tablet that seems to be selling quite well, we sure haven’t seen much of an effort from either Google or ASUS to produce some accessories to go along with the Nexus 7. Every now and then we hear about covers for it, but who cares about that? Finally today, we have some news [...]

Review: Eye in Sky Weather for Android
Last night on the DL Show I mentioned a weather app called Eye in Sky Weather. Read on to see what makes this app good enough to be on two of my home screens. Eye in the Sky Weather (ESW) doesn’t have any standout features that you haven’t seen in a weather app before, but [...]

Amazon Appstore Now Available For Japan
Just two months ago Amazon started accepting app submissions from developers for their up-and-coming Japanese AppStore launch. Since then, we haven’t heard a whole lot about it. Regardless, Amazon has pulled off the red curtains today and now have the Amazon Appstore available for the public! Amazon has not stopped accepting submissions though. If you’re a developer, you may just want to submit your app to the Appstore, as it could be a great source for more revenue. Especially with Amazon’s recent Kindle refresh!
If you’re wanting to take a look at the Japanese Appstore or just want to submit an app, be sure to hit the source link below!

ZTE pushes its first Android 4.2 update to mid-range device

In a rather quick turn-around since the code has gone live, ZTE has just announced that it is pushing an Android 4.2 update to one of its devices. Interestingly enough, this update is pushing to a mid-range device only being sold in the Chinese market, the N880E. This device has a 4-inch WVGA screen, 1GHz processor and just 512MB of RAM, but ZTE has still given the green light to push the update. The N880E was one of the first devices in the world to ship with Android 4.1 (which was nearly stock as well), so in that regard it's fitting that this was the device chosen to receive the first 4.2 update as well.
This is an astonishingly quick update cycle that ZTE is operating on considering that even Nexus devices just received the update a couple of weeks ago, some of which likely still haven't pulled it down. We really wish more manufacturers out there could operate this quickly when it comes to software updates.
Granny Smith updated with 9 bonus levels and ‘expert’ mode

Granny Smith has been one of our favorite games lately, and thankfully the developer has been quick about bringing out updates with fixes and new levels. The last update brought a whole new world of space-themed gameplay, and this one is adding another 9 "bonus" levels. These levels are dispersed among the other levels, which gives the game good replay value. There's also now a toggle to select a "hard" mode in the settings, which makes the thief move faster, brings trickier jumps and requires at least one apple to move on to the next level.
Haven't grabbed Granny Smith yet? It's probably the best $0.99 you'll spend on a game this week. You can take a look at the Google Play Store link above.
16GB Samsung Nexus 10 showing in stock in U.S. Google Play Store

If you missed out on a Samsung Nexus 10 earlier this week during the Nexus day pandemonium, there may be another chance. While the 32GB version is still showing as sold out, the screen we see here greets us when we head over to the 16GB page. We haven't tried purchasing — namely because this writer isn't based in the U.S. — but it's there for all to see. It seems to be potentially isolated to the U.S. Play Store, as the UK is still showing both sizes out of stock, but it might be worth checking where you are. But if you were disappointed to miss out on a Nexus 10, head over and try and snag one now. Be sure to let us know in the comments if you were successful, equally if you find any outside of the U.S. They're not likely to be around for long.

Get that VIZIO Co-Star while it’s in stock!
If you are a fan of all things Android like us, you have been dying to get your hands on a VIZIO Co-Star but haven’t been able to catch it in stock. The $100 Google TV box has been flying off the shelves like no other Google TV unit, mostly due to its great price and equally good features.
After going in and out of stock for several months, the VIZIO Co-Star is now available for purchase again. We don’t know if it will be for very long, but it should be a good idea to purchase yours as soon as possible. Samsung has sold 30 million Galaxy S3′s worldwide

We heard just yesterday about the relative success of the Galaxy Note 2, selling 3 million units in just over 30 days. That was quite a feat, but how about this? 30 million Galaxy SII (S3) units sold worldwide since launch. That's a serious number, especially considering that the device hasn't had worldwide availability for that long.
It's surely outpacing anything else out there, including the amazing sales numbers of the Galaxy S2, and we haven't even hit the holiday season yet. We'll likely see tens of millions more Galaxy S3's sold in the coming months.

Pocket receives a speed boost in its latest update

Extremely popular news reading app Pocket has just received an update focused on one thing: speed. Sure we all like new features and UI elements, but if an app is slow, nothing else really matters. If you haven't used Pocket (or similar apps) before, it basically allows you to use Android's built-in sharing functionality to add all types of content to a queue of things for reading later. This latest update improves the speed of launching and navigating through the app, as well as scrolling and responsiveness.
In addition to the overall speed improvements, this latest update has added a couple small feature changes. You can now edit tags while reading articles, issues with ASUS tablets have been resolved and numerous bugs have been fixed.

Diner Dash now available on Amazon’s Kindle Fire

Mobile game Diner Dash has made its Android debut on the Amazon Kindle Fire.
Bad news for fans without an Amazon tablet though, because the game appears to be exclusive to the Kindle Fire for now. Searching for it on the Amazon Appstore on a different Android device returns no results (although the results return plenty of similar games to be downloaded).
The game may seem a little dated, but its publisher, PlayFirst, reminded us that it’s enjoyed over 650 million downloads worldwide.
Diner Dash was developed by GameLab before PlayFirst acquired the rights to own it. If you haven’t had enough, the game has spawned four sequels since its initial runaway success.

FCC clears 3G version of Nexus 7; Perhaps just in time for Google’s October 29th event?
Looks like the FCC has cleared the 3G version of Google’s ASUS made tablet in the Nexus 7. Most likely just in time for its official outing during next weeks October 29th event held by Google. The Asus-made tablet will don the model number of ME370TG.
Rumors of a proposed 3G version of the Nexus 7 has been circulating around the net for about 2 months now, so this isn’t much of a surprise that it has finally passed through the FCC. For those that haven’t gotten themselves a Nexus 7 yet, will this finally push you to get one?
