HTC One SV now available on Clove UK
HTC announced that it would bring the One SV to the UK, and they’ve made good on that promise. Clove UK is now carrying the LTE-equipped, 4.3 inch, Snapdragon-wielding device, sim-unlocked and available in white and blue. It unfortunately is still running Ice Cream Sandwich, but we’ve seen some leaks that say it’ll get the Jelly Bean update, hopefully sooner rather than later. Now cross your fingers and hope it makes its way to the US.

Corning announces Gorilla Glass 3 to be demoed at CES 2013
CES is coming just around the bend and we’re already seeing a flood of announcements from companies not wanting to get lost in mayhem that is Las Vegas. When it comes to smartphone protection, Corning is already sending out press releases for their next iteration of Gorilla Glass, the aptly titled Gorilla Glass 3.
Last year, Corning showed off Gorilla Glass 2 on the show room floor, promising displays 20% thinner, while providing the same level of protection as their initial offering. With Gorilla Glass 3, Corning is promising a glass material even tougher than before (that’s not saying too much). We’re sure to see demos of knives going at smartphone screens with extreme prejudice. Course, as we all know — you can’t intentionally scratch smartphone glass, it only happens when you’re not looking.
Want to convince me your glass is durable? Place it inside my girl friend’s purse for 1 day and watch it come out looking like a ice rink after a long hockey game. Women. Amirite, guys?

AT&T Galaxy S II getting a 4.0.4 update
The AT&T Galaxy S II got updated to Ice Cream Sandwich this past June, but tonight there are reports of users getting a slight version bump to Android 4.0.4. The LK3 update can be retrieved from Kies, but luckily users are saying they downloaded it OTA as well.
There is no change log available, and so far nobody has found much difference from 4.0.3. We doubt that the Exynos patch is included, but we'll have to wait until more people get it installed so someone can check. Of course even the smallest bug fixes and security adjustments are appreciated.

Eternity Warrior 2 update to bring dragons into the mix [VIDEO]
An epic RPG just isn’t an epic RPG without dragons, right? Well, Glu Mobile feels the same and that’s why they’ve brought an epic new update for Eternity Warrior 2. Today’s update brings dragon battles, so you and your companions will have your hands full taking on these ghastly, grotesque creates which stand about 30 times larger than you.
The dragons have a number of different attacks for you to dispel. No longer is fire the only thing standing between you and the slaying of your lifetime — some of these dragons will shoot ice at you, too. How’s that for turning an age-old concept onto its head? Battles take place in a new environment called Dragon’s Lair, and the game’s core top-down view has been replaced with a more level, third-person camera so you can see just how massive the creatures are.
Alongside all of that, you can now level characters up to level 70, there are new quests to complete, new achievements to obtain, and new weapons and armor to brandish. There’s also a new point system. You’ll get Renown Points with each quest and battle you complete. Renown Points add a leaderboard element so you and your friends can see how much you’ve gotten around, and the points can also be used to unlock special features and characters.
Unfortunately all this goodness isn’t out just yet, but we’re told it’ll be here before the new year so the wait won’t be long. In the meantime be sure to get a taste of what’s to come in the teaser trailer above.

Android Distribution Numbers Updated for December – Same Gingerbread Story, Just Another Month
Until Gingerbread falls below 50% on the Android distribution charts, I’m going to continue to use the same post title for these stories over and over again. When did we get Android 2.3? Two years ago? Yep, two years ago, and it’s still dominating the Android platform. While Ice Cream Sandwich has slowly climbed to 27.5% [...]

Currently, the keyboard is officially supported on devices running Android 4.1 and above, though some users are reporting that they have been able to install it on earlier builds of Ice Cream Sandwich. Additionally, the developer hopes to backport the new AOSP keyboard to Gingerbread devices, but of course there are no guarantees. AT&T this morning announced that the Samsung Captivate Glide — the 4-inch QWERTY we first saw about a year ago — will get its update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich starting this Sunday. It doesn't look like it'll be made available over the air — it's still 2012, right? — and instead you'll have to go to a Samsung update page, which at the time of this writing still says the update is on hold.

Following up on the IDC report earlier today that showed 75-percent of all smartphones shipped in Q3 ran Android, Google has now released their monthly platform version numbers. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich saw a little movement and now sits at 25.8-percent while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean saw a jump from 1.8-percent going up to 2.7-percent. Google Updates Android Distribution Numbers for November, Jelly Bean Up to 2.7%
It’s the first of the month which means Google has updated the Android distribution numbers from the previous month. As you would expect, Jelly Bean’s share has jumped slightly to 2.7%. Since there are so few phones running 4.1, the slight bump from 1.8% makes perfect sense. The Ice Cream Sandwich share saw a solid [...]

Huawei Ascend G300 Android 4.0 update released by Vodafone UK
After a few months of slightly unofficial availability, Vodafone has now started pushing its “Ice Cream Sandwich” update for the popular Huawei Ascend G300 out via the standard over-the-air update method for those who bought the cheap Android model through the network.
There seems to be quite a fiddly method outlined by the network which involves installing an initial update for the G300′s 2.3 software which will then let users install the 4.0 code…
…with the end result being a phone that’s definitely worth its £100 super-bargain price tag. Read all about the update process over on Vodafone’s forum.
Archos unveils new 80 Cobalt tablet
We’ve got a flood of tablets incoming from a bunch of different manufacturers thanks to the holiday shopping season, and today Archos added one more tablet to the already long list. Say hello to the Archos 80 Cobalt, a tablet that probably won’t be burning up the benchmarks but might be worth having a look at nonetheless. That’s especially true if you’re in the market for an inexpensive tablet, as we’re thinking the 80 Cobalt’s specs won’t exactly demand a high price tag.

The Archos 80 Cobalt comes equipped with an unnamed dual-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz and a quad-core GPU. Those are working alongside 1GB of RAM, and the 80 Cobalt comes running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. It also sports an 8-inch capacative touch screen running at 1024 x 768 resolution, so there’s not all that much to write home about when it comes to the display.

However, the Archos 80 does feature a rear-facing camera, though that snapper only weighs in at two-megapixels. In other words, even though you’ve got a rear camera to take advantage of, it might not be the best idea to use it as your main shooter. On the inside, we’ve got 8GB of flash memory, but you can expand on that thanks to the micro SDHC slot Archos has chosen to include.

So, there isn’t too much to make the Archos 80 Cobalt stand out from the crowd, but we’re assuming that these lower-end specs will mean a low price. That will be the main draw of the 80 Cobalt, but at the moment, Archos hasn’t given any release or information. We’ll be sure to update once Archos dishes those details, so keep it tuned here to Android Community for more!

ZTE announces $160 Quad-Core Tegra 3 smartphone
ZTE, whose website proclaims is the world’s 4th largest manufacturer, announced the cheapest quad-core smartphone yet. The ZTE U950 packs a 1.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM but its most impressive spec is the 999 yuan price (approximately $160 USD).
The low-priced Android device comes with a 4.3-inch display and is only 9mm-thick. It will have Ice Cream Sandwich at launch but appears to have the specs to support Jelly Bean. It has a 2,000 mAh battery, 5 megapixel rear camera and VGA front facing camera. No word on expandable storage or if the battery is removable.
The first 100,000 people to register on the U950 sign-up page will get to order the device starting November 11th. This is a China release only but might be precursor of what ZTE is planning for other markets. It hasn’t exactly set the US market on fire but an unlocked sub $200 quad-core device would certainly make a splash.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency planning to test BB10
Posted by admin in News on December 13, 2012
Thorsten Heins‘ tearful late-night calls to the head of the US Customs and Enforcement Agency (ICE) seems to have done the trick. While the well-named bureau won’t confirm if BlackBerry 10 has convinced it to abandon its well-publicized switch to the iPhone, it has admitted that it’ll test RIM’s new offering when it launches next year. Perhaps those forgetful G-Persons had their heads turned when they saw how deeply Evernote was baked into the new operating system.
