Yup, Verizon’s logo will be on the Note 2′s home button [VOMIT]

This image has no alt text

As great of a network as Verizon maintains I think we can all agree that they make some pretty questionable decisions in other areas. A while back, Verizon’s version of the Galaxy Note 2 leaked in a blurry cam photo, and in that photo we could all see a Verizon logo plastered onto the home button sticking out like a sore thumb.

We’d hoped and prayed that the vomit-inducing monstrosity we were looking at was just a prototype, but nope — Verizon will definitely be putting its logo on the Note 2′s home button according to the press shots Samsung has released.

Don’t get me wrong: I love Verizon’s logo and think it’s one of the best in cellular. But when you start putting it on places like the home button then things just become silly. What possible reason is there for needing it on one of the most important buttons the device has? The logo is already blown up on the back of the device, and most of us can live with that just fine.

But why, Verizon? Why must you shoehorn the logo onto the device as if we’re going to forget which network we’re using it on? It, quite simply, looks tacky, out of place, and just downright wrong.

I rarely gripe and moan about minor cosmetics, but this is one thing that I will detest until the cows come home. Let’s just hope they used a material and process that makes it easy to remove for the sake of all that is alive. If not, perhaps some decal love will be in order here.

Perhaps I’m overreacting — after all, it doesn’t do anything to hurt the device’s functionality — but this move is so silly that it makes me a bit mad Verizon thought to do it in the first place. Let’s just thank the gods that they didn’t do anything to the S Pen (that we can see from the press shots, anyway). Are any of you feeling the same way?

Verizon Officially Announces The Massive LG Intuition, Available Online Beginning September 6th And In Stores On The 10th

Three short days ago, we heard that Verizon could be launching the behemoth LG Intuition – America’s version of the Optimus Vu – beginning on September 6th. Looks like that leaks was pretty much dead-on, as Big Red just officially took what wraps were left off of this oversized monstrosity.

Available online from September 6th and in-stores on the 10th, the LG Intuition packs a massive 5″ 4:3 display, 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP rear shooter, 1.3MP front camera, and Android 4.0.

Trying to take a page from the Samsung Galaxy Note, the device will also ship with a “pen” of sorts, called the Rubberdium pen, which is basically just a standard stylus and doesn’t feature any sort of enhanced functionality like Samsung’s S Pen.

Official Android Police t-shirts are now on sale, with over 25 designs to call yours.

Exclusive: Want A Phablet On Verizon? Here Is The Upcoming 5" VZW LG Optimus Vu [Photos]

2012-07-15 17.24.20If you were hoping to see a phablet device like the Samsung Galaxy Note on Verizon, Big Red’s upcoming device is going to technically fit the bill. Except instead of the enjoyable, well designed, and globally acclaimed device, you will get this horrendous boxy eyesore, complete with a 4:3 CRT-like aspect ratio: the LG Optimus Vu.

Here it is, in all its glory monstrosity, next to… yup, the 4.8″ Galaxy S III. It’s HUGE:

wm_2012-07-15 17.24.20

We’re talking 5 inches at 1024×768 on an HD IPS display if the specs are going to remain the same as its international counterpart’s that we played with at MWC.

Pink Samsung Galaxy Note headed to the UK in June

Android Central

When the "berry pink" Galaxy Note first launched in Korea in early April, we doubted whether Samsung would look to release the device outside of its home territory. What fools we were.

Today the Carphone Warehouse reveals that it's planning to launch the pink Galaxy Note in the UK starting next month. There's even a pre-registration page open for would-be buyers to sign up for additional info on the mauve monstrosity.  We're not sure what more information can be offered, though — as far as we're concerned it's the same old Galaxy Note, only with a hideous new coat of paint.

In any case, if the existing black and white Galaxy Notes are just too subdued and tasteful for you, you can find out more about the pink variant over at the source link. (Spoiler alert: it's a Galaxy Note, in pink.)

Another ‘Next Galaxy’ dummy unit appears, throws Android style guide to the wind

Ladies and gents, I present to you the Samsung Galaxy S III.

Except it ain't. It's another bit of secrecy in the never ending chain of Samsung Galaxy Next S III tales, and this one from the Taiwanese forum mobile01 truly takes the cake. The casing, yellow friction tape and all, is clearly not the finished product and the monstrosity of a navigation bar across the bottom makes me hope the view on the screen is faked as well. Don't get me wrong — I'm a fan of buttons, including the coveted menu button, but forcing it off to the wrong side as in the above screen is not only against the Android style guidelines, but it's a giant mess for app development waiting to happen. At least HTC's offerings would look right when (if) apps get updated with the ICS UI. But this? There's no rhyme or reason.

I want to see this phone as much as the next guy. I'm excited to see what Samsung counters the HTC One series with, but if this is it I'm going to have to say no thanks Samsung. That's why I'm not buying it.

Crystal War Blood Field is Perfect Blend of RPG and RTS for iOS

download app Crystal War Blood Field
Price: $1.99
Download from the App Store
User Ratings:

Crystal War Blood Field is a real-time strategy (RTS) game that is the sequel to Crystal War, which became quite popular among mobile gamers. The one thing missing was the ability to game against other fans. Now, by popular demand, multi-player in real-time is available. Even better, the iOS game still delivers on all facets, making it a sure hit among new and veteran fans.As with the original, gameplay is smooth, engaging and built around a fairly elaborate storyline, which starts with the Goblins unifying after 100 years. The new leader, a four-armed monstrosity abandoned at birth, “Black Chuck Houser” has used his unsurmountable will to survive, overwhelming power, and unrivaled cunning to fuel his unprecedented rise to the top of the Goblin ranks. You are the only person that stands in his way.  (more…)

Droid Bionic gets friendly with its future roomate for Mr. Blurrycam

We know, we know — you’re ready to be done with the Droid Bionic. After all, we’ve been lusting after this monstrosity guy for nearly eight months now, so is all of this building up to be a major disappointment? We’re just as eager to find out as the next person, but here are some new images of the real deal to (hopefully) tie you over a bit longer. We’ve seen shots of the Motorola XT875 up close and personal before, but this is the first time it’s been spotted snuggled up next to another phone. Hanging out next to the Samsung Droid Charge, the Bionic’s slightly larger appearance lends credence to reports that it has a 4.5-inch display. A few other cosmetic features that stick out — quite literally, we might add — are the tapered back that bulges halfway up the phone to accommodate the camera, and the beveled edge around the perimeter. As already expected, the microUSB / HDMI port on the bottom right side for Webtop access can easily be discerned. Will this be enough to whet your whistle for another few weeks? If not, we hear there’s another Verizon device inbound that you might be interested in.

Tag Heuer Introduces the Link: A $6,700 Android Monstrosity Clad in Aligator Skin

This image has no alt text

Luxury watch makers seem to have a thing for making particularly gaudy Android handsets. Take Ulysse Nardin, makers of the Chairman handset. They clad their handset in your choice of precious metals and priced it at $50,000. The Tag Heuer Link on the other hand, seems like a bargain comparatively. For €4,700 (about $6,700), you get an Android 2.2 smartphone with a 3.5-inch display, 5MP camera, and 256MB of internal storage. Also included is an 8GB microSD card and 1400mAh battery. What you’re really paying for is the clunky case made of a selection of materials including steel, 18K rose gold, titanium, leather, alligator skin, and rubber. Did we mention alligator skin? And diamond accents? Dress it up however you want, but this thing still doesn’t stack up internally to handsets priced at one tenth of the Link’s value. At least it looks kind of cool in the below promo video…
