Motorola RAZR i now available on Three UK

Intel-powered handset available for free on £17 per month contract or £250 on PAYG
Better late than never, Motorola's Intel Atom-powered RAZR i has landed on Three UK. The phone packs a 4.3-inch qHD SuperAMOLED display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and an 8-megapixel rear camera. (Essentially, it's a RAZR M with a different CPU.)
When we reviewed the RAZR i back in September we found it to be a capable mid-ranger, and it's still decent value today at Three's asking price. The network's offering the RAZR i for free on contracts starting at £17 per month (that gets you 250MB, 100 minutes and 5,000 texts) or for £249.99 up-front on PAYG.

Root method for Motorola RAZR HD and other devices running 4.1.2 released
Dan Rosenberg’s bootloader unlocking tool for Motorola devices is a pretty fantastic hack. Unfortunately, it does a painful requirement that some Motorola devices can’t get; root access. Many Motorola devices upgraded to Android 4.1.2 simply can’t be rooted. Well, before today, anyway. Dan Rosenberg, once again, has released a little hack to get your Motorola device rooted and prepped for that unlocked bootloader. This method was designed with the Droid RAZR HD in mind, but it will work on many other Motorola devices running 4.1.2.
Like always, rooting your phone does come with upsides and downsides, so be sure to read up on it before you make any hasty decisions. When you’re ready, hit the break below to get the instructions.
You can download the files you’ll need here.
- Extract the entire contents of the zip file.
- If you are using Windows, ensure you have installed the latest Motorola USB drivers available for your phone.
- Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device.
- If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute “run.bat”. If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute “./run.sh”.

Motorola outs RAZR D1, D3 in Brazil: dual-SIM support, Jelly Bean and more
Folks around the interweb are still wondering what a certain unidentified Motorola smartphone could be, but while we wait for that mystery to unfold, the company’s taken the time to announce a pair of new Android handsets in Brazil. The RAZR D1 and D3 clearly nab a design cue from their M cousin, however both are packing smaller 3.5- and 4-inch displays, respectively. Screen size aside, the better-specced of the two, the D3, boasts an undisclosed 1.2GHz, dual-core CPU alongside 1GB of RAM and a 2,000mAh battery, while the entry-level D1 is loaded with a 1GHz CPU, the same amount of RAM and a slightly less powerful 1,785mAh cell — plus, each one offers dual-SIM features and runs a rather fresh version of Google’s OS, aka Jelly Bean. Per Motorola Mobility, Brazilians can now snag a D1 beginning at R$ 549 (about $280) for the dual-SIM model; the D3, on the other hand, is expected to hit shelves “in several weeks” with a starting tag of R$ 799.

Motorola RAZR i Jelly Bean update now rolling out for those in the UK
Jelly Bean began rolling-out for Motorola RAZR i users in France a short while back. And as of today, the update has been announced for those in the UK. Those in the UK can expect the update to arrive as Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and should be on the lookout for an update notification to arrive on their handset.

While Motorola has made an official announcement, they didn’t offer much in terms of a timeframe. We do know that the update is available, and that it is coming in phases. What we have yet to see is how many phases there will be in total and when the update is set to arrive for all users. Regardless, those in the UK with a RAZR i have two options in front of them — sit back and wait for the update notification to arrive or take the pro-active route and check manually.
We suspect many will take the latter approach and if they have not already checked manually, they will be doing that really soon. However the update comes though, the features and perks will be the same. Many are familiar with what getting Jelly Bean means — three of the bigger perks include the Google Now, Google Voice Search and improved notifications.
Touching on the improved notifications, these basically mean you will now be able to take actions directly from the alert. For example, missed call notifications will allow you to return the call and meeting reminders will allow you to email those involved or snooze the alert for later. One maybe not so obvious notification tip is that you can expand them by pinching out with two fingers. Of course, Jelly Bean also comes with Project Butter which just adds a smoothness to Jelly Bean.

Motorola RAZR i receiving Jelly Bean OTA in the UK

The RAZR i, Motorola's tweak of the RAZR M with an Intel chip inside, is receiving its Jelly Bean update in the U.K. starting today. Although its cousin the RAZR M started to receive its Jelly Bean update back in November, there are certainly some extra tweaks required to getting the update ready for devices with Intel processors still. The RAZR i Jelly Bean rollout started in France just a few short days ago, so the U.K. isn't far behind here.
The update will bring all of the notable improvements of Jelly Bean, including Project Butter, Google Now and improved notifications. Motorola says the update will begin rolling today and will head out in phases (of course). If you've got your hands on a RAZR i, keep on the lookout for a system update notification.

Motorola RAZR i now getting Jelly Bean in the UK
Those in the UK with a Motorola RAZR i will be happy to knowe that a fresh new upgrade is headed straight for your handset. The upgrade will bring you up from Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and with that comes a whole slew of new features, including Google Now, Project Butter, face unlock, new notifications and more.
It sounds like the upgrade is headed out in your typical staggered fashion so don’t be alarmed if you’re not seeing it right away. Those in the first wave of the rollouts might have already gotten a notification, but if you want to try your luck at forcing it you can head to the Settings > About Phone menu to give the update checker a whirl.
That said, there’s still a chance you won’t be able to find the upgrade waiting for you on the data waves so sit tight if nothing pops up. The RAZR i isn’t Motorola’s most impressive device in the world, but it’s a very solid offering from the Chicagoan company and we’re glad to see it getting the upgrade love that it deserves. Let us know how things go in the comments section below!

Motorola Droid Razr M now has an Exclusive Platinum Edition With Best Buy
Motorola has been struggling to make an impact on the market with its smartphones since the past two years. Its slump began with the Atrix 4G and the XOOM tablet back in January 2011 and it only went downhill after that. Thankfully, the Verizon Droid Razr helped somewhat in resurrecting the brand. Then with the acquisition of the mobility division by Google, we began expecting new and fruitful things from the company. A hint of that was given when the company removed the traditional Moto Blur UI (which wasn’t all that great) to bring a more stock Android experience. Following the breed of the original Droid Razr were the Razr HD, Razr Maxx HD and the Razr M which launched in fall 2012. The Droid Razr M in particular was an interesting addition to the mid-ranged segment as it brought forth impressive specs for a reasonable price.
And now, an exclusive “Platinum” version of the Droid Razr M has been made available, only via Best Buy. This smartphone basically has an all new color variant, and that’s pretty much it. However, it’s not only a change in the color of the body. Motorola has gone with an all grey finish for the smartphone, with blue colored hardware keys for that added edge. If you intend to stand out from the crowd of Droid Razr M owners, this is the best way to do it (unless they happen to own the same exclusive version). Besides this, the Droid Razr M features pretty much the same specs as other variants of the smartphone. If you’re interested in snatching this bad boy up, make sure you head over to the nearest Best Buy stores as you won’t find it anywhere else.
The mid ranged Droid Razr M packs a 4.3-inch qHD resolution display (540×960), a dual core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset along with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone packs 8GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via the microSD card slot. Also on board are an 8MP and a VGA camera sensor on the back and front respectively. The smartphone came out with Android 4.0.4 ICS but currently runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, thanks to the quick update by Motorola. Interestingly, the smartphone also has a Intel based sibling in the form of the Motorola Razr i.

If this rumor is true then it’s a good move by Motorola by capitalizing on the success of the current Droid Razr M. They will be making this line more attractive to consumers by bumping up its specs. What we really like is the increase in the display size which is now 4.5 inches compared to 4.3 inches of the current model. The battery capacity has also been improved to 3300 mAh which we are quite skeptical about at this time. If this is true then it will allow you to enjoy the device for a much longer period of time before needing a recharge.
Nothing is official as of this time though so we might be officially hearing about this device from Motorola during CES next week or during the MWC to be held this coming February.

Motorola Releases White Razr i In The UK
Just in time for the holidays, Motorola and the UK retailer Phones 4u are releasing a new model of the Motorola RAZR i smartphone in white to match the snowy weather. In the past, the smartphone was only available in black.
The retailer, according to the press release, will be the first to offer such model in the United Kingdom. This implies that the color option will be available for other retailers, as well, in the future, possibly after the holidays. The white Motorola RAZR i may be purchased from Phones 4u starting Saturday, December 22.
Phones 4u is offering the handset for free on monthly plans which have prices that start from £20.50 (around US$33) from three wireless carriers, namely O2, Orange, and T-Mobile.
The Motorola RAZR i features a 4.3-inch super AMOLED qHD edge-to-edge capacitive touch screen with contoured glass and protection against scratches from Gorilla Glass. This display has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of 256 PPI. The device has a Kevlar fiber coating on its rear and sports the Intel logo.
Under the hood, it is packed with a single-core processor by Intel, which is what the “i” in its name stands for. Said processor runs at the speed of 2GHz. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is its operating system.
Its main camera has an 8-megapixel sensor and is capable of recording video and flash. Its Lithium-Ion battery has a capacity of 2000mAh. It has an internal memory of 16GB that is expandable through a microSD card. The smartphone supports 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. Accelerometer, Ambient light, Gyroscope, and Proximity sensors are onboard, as well. There is also a 3.5 mm audio jack and mono speakers. Location support includes GPS, Cellular location, WiFi location, and Compass (A-GPS).
Will you be picking up the white Motorola RAZR i?

White Motorola RAZR i coming to the UK on December 22
The Motorola RAZR i was first released in the UK back in early-October, and well, it looks like there will soon be a second model available. This latest is white and it will be available sooner rather than later. The one catch, at the moment it looks like it will only be available with one retailer.

That retailer is Phones 4u and the handset will be available beginning on December 22. According to what we have seen in the press release announcement, Phones 4u will be the “first” to offer the handset in the UK. We only mention first, because as opposed to exclusive, it appears as if the handset will eventually make its way to other retailers.
As far as Phones 4u goes, they will have the handset available for free on pay monthly plans from £20.50 and up. Otherwise, the “i” in the RAZR i name gives the clue to towards the processor — an Intel processor. More specifically, the RAZR i is sporting a single-core 2.0GHz Intel processor.
Aside from the Intel inside, the RAZR i has a 4.3-inch (960 x 540) edge-to-edge display with Gorilla Glass, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 2,000 mAh battery, VGA quality front-facing camera, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a Kevlar fiber coating on the backside.
UK gets the Motorola RAZR i in white for pay monthly contracts
Been pining for a white Motorola Razr i? Well, UK, your time has come. Phones 4U is getting that little slice of sexy. White Christmas, white phone. Get it? If you need a refresher on the specs (and you really should read our full Razr i review), this is a 4.3-incher with an AMOLED display, a 2000 mAh battery, and it's running Intel's internals. We're still waiting for Jelly Bean on the RAZR i, but Motorola says it's on track for the first quarter of 2013. The phone's free from £20.50 on pay monthly contracts starting Dec. 22.
Motorola RAZR i MT788 announced for Chinese Market
More and more smartphone creators are looking to break their way into the Chinese market. With the reports of Android’s complete and utter domination, it’s no surprise; clearly people in China love some Android. Reports came out that HTC was brining the DLX to market in China, and now, Motorla is following along with the RAZR i MT788.

On paper, the device is very similar to its western counterpart. It comes with a 2GHz Intel Atom Z2480 processor inside. It comes with the same 4.3-inch 960 x 540 AMOLED display, an eight-megapixel camera, a microSD slot, and Android Ice Cream Sandwich installed. But there are some very noticeable differences as well.
Of course, with a new market, there is bound to be some changes to the device, and Motorola has made some important ones to this particular phone. The most obvious is the chassis of the phone, which looks different from the western version. The battery is also smaller at only 1,735mAh instead of the RAZR i’s 2,000mAh. It also comes with only 4GB of built-in memory instead of 16GB.
The last notable change comes to the front-facing camera. It has actually been bumped from .3-megapixels to 1.3-megapixels. The price has not been announced for the device yet, but interested buyers in the Chinese markets will be able to grab one from China Mobile in mid-December.

Well the time has come as Motorola proudly announced the RAZR i MT788 that will operate on China Mobile’s wireless network. The RAZR i MT788 is nearly identical to the original RAZR i: it features the same 2GHz Intel chip, has a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 AMOLED display, 8MP camera and a microSD expansion slot. The only major difference is the RAZR i MT788 will only have 4GB of on-board storage, but will have a 1.3MP FFC.

With a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU, a 4.7″ 720p SAMOLED display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (plus a microSD slot), and a 2530mAh battery, it packed solid performance and good battery life into a slim package.

White Motorola RAZR i lands in the UK on December 22nd
Posted by admin in News on December 19, 2012
If owning one of the first Intel-based phones just isn’t unique enough, there’s now a rarer color option. The Motorola RAZR i is coming to the UK in a seasonally appropriate white, starting with local reseller Phones4U on December 22nd. The look will be familiar to some of those who’ve bought a Droid RAZR M on the other side of the Atlantic, but it may be easy to forgive any not-quite-complete color exclusivity through the contract price: Phones4U is giving the white RAZR i away for free to those who sign up for a contract worth at least £20.50 ($33) per month. While other stores might not carry the Atom-powered RAZR until after the holidays, Brits scrambling to find a last-minute tech gift might just have been given a reprieve.
