UK Pre-Orders for the Sony Xperia Z2 Begin April 11th

Sony’s latest device announcement, the Sony Xperia Z2, is a hot topic of a device. It is hard not to take a good hard look at the 20.7MP packing device. As if the camera resolution wasn’t a big enough selling point, the Xperia Z2 also offers a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 3,200 mAh battery.

Sony Xperia Z2 side Phones4u have recently unveiled their on-contract price and pre-order dates for the new Xperia Z2. Those of you in the UK will be able to lock in a Z2 on April 11th for free with a £47 per month charge with Vodafone and EE. The device will launch in traditional black and white, whit the white being exclusive through Phones4u. A purple Z2 will also be available, but will launch for O2.

To get you guys on the hook for the pre-order, they are also offering up a SRS-BTX300 wireless speaker for free. We can’t forget to mention ”exclusive Sony content including games, music and six movies”, and a 50% discount on Smartband accessories too.

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. Anyone over the pond marking their calendar for this one?

Xperia Z2

Free from £47 per month on contract, with pre-order goodies from Phones4u

British retailer Phones4u has unveiled its on-contract prices for Sony’s upcoming Xperia Z2. The Z2 is set to land at P4u on April 11 — the same day as the global launch for the Samsung Galaxy S5 — with the phone available for free on 24-month contracts from Vodafone and EE starting at £47 per month. Pay £49-99 upfront and it’s possible to knock the monthly fee down to £42. Phones4u has the Xperia Z2 in white and black at present — no purple option, as that model is only available at O2 — but P4u dos have exclusivity over the white Z2 in the U.K.

Pre-order customers will get a free Sony SRS-BTX300 wireless speaker valued at £119, in additition to “exclusive Sony content including games, music and six movies,” and a 50% discount on the cost of Sony’s Smartband accessory. UK Moto X available at Phones4u from today

Moto X

Prices start at £379.95 on PAYG or £25 per month on 3G contract

Phones4u has announced that it's the first UK retailer to offer Motorola's Moto X for sale. The company says it's now offering Motorola's flagship handset on contract, pay as you go and SIM-free, both in-store and online. If you're looking to pick up a Moto X today you'll pay from £25 per month on 3G contracts or £29.99 on 4G. P4u's SIM-free price is £389.95, dropping to £379.95 if you buy on PAYG. And as previously announced, the retailer also has exclusivity over the white Moto X for the first three months of it's availability.

Phones4u's launch comes a few days ahead of the officially-announced Moto X UK street date of Feb. 1.

Phones4u now selling the Moto X in the UK

Moto X

The Moto X is now officially available in the UK through Phones4u. The arrival of the smartphone in Europe was revealed a couple of weeks ago by Motorola. The smartphone can be snatched up through the online retailer for £389.95 ($646) or £379.95 if bought via PAYG. The Moto X is easily one of the best smartphones available from Motorola outside the U.S. As of today, the Moto X is over 5 months old in the market, so it’s not new by any means. The smartphone was slated to arrive officially in European regions by February 1, but Phones4u is offering the device ahead of its scheduled arrival date.

The smartphone is clearly not a hardware powerhouse to justify the steep pricing, but given that it features an almost stock version of Android and the promise of future software updates, Motorola can hope to attract first time smartphone buyers with the Moto X. Contract prices for the smartphone start from £25 a month if you’re looking for 3G HSPA and £29.99 if you want a 4G connection. While the Black variant is available from all retailers in the UK, Phones4u seemingly has exclusivity over the White Moto X until May.

Moto X UK availability announced for February

Motorola has announced availability for the Moto X in the UK. The handset will be available for purchase beginning on February 1st and those looking to make a purchase will need to shell out £380. That price is for the 16GB model. One catch with making a purchase will come in with the color. Motorola will have the black model Moto X widely available, however the white model will be exclusive to Phones4U.

image0003-540x4031

Aside from needing to pick up a white Moto X from Phones4U, the overall specs should sound familiar to anyone that has been following the US launch. In other words, the UK release of the Moto X will bring the same 4.7-inch 720p display with dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera and 10.5 megapixel rear-facing camera.

Of course, the handset will also have the basics such as WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC as well as 3G and 4G LTE connectivity. The one perk for those in the UK, the Moto X will be launching with Android 4.4 Kit Kat. Those in the US have likely already received the update, but this should be a plus for the UK market as it means there will not be any wait to go from Jelly Bean.

Otherwise, the 32GB model Moto X will also be available direct from the Motorola website. And, as for that Phones4U exclusivity offer on the white model Moto X — that is looking like it is locked in for a three-month window. In addition to the Moto X, Motorola also has the Moto G available for those in the UK. The Moto G sits priced from £130.

HTC One with a gold paintjob arrives in the UK

HTC One GoldThe golden HTC One is now making its way to the UK. This is the golden color variant and not the real gold model, so you don’t have to think about selling your car to get your hands on this one.

The smartphone is being offered on contract with all UK carriers except Three. Vodafone has the cheapest deal at £29 per month which also comes with 1GB of 3G data. The smartphone is being sold by Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse. ‘Arctic blue’ Galaxy S4 now available in the UK

Galaxy S4

British retailer Phones4u sends word that from today it'll be stocking the Samsung Galaxy S4 in a new "arctic blue" color option. The blue GS4, which until now we've only seen in Asia, sells on contracts with Vodafone, EE, T-Mobile and Orange, with prices starting at £37 per month for a free phone. Besides the color change, you're getting the same Galaxy S4 we've been using since late April — a speedy, feature-packed smartphone that's been getting better with recent software updates.

Unfortunately Phones4u doesn't seem to be offering the "arctic blue" GS4 without a contract, but if you're in the market for a monthly deal you can check out price plans over at the source link.

HTC One mini launching on almost all UK carriers around August 9th

HTC One Mini launching on all UK carriers from August

We’ve reached out to all of the usual suspects, and only one of them hasn’t stuck a thumb up and winked when we’ve asked if it’ll be carrying HTC’s “diminutive” new smartphone. O2, EE, Vodafone, Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse have all confirmed that they’ll carry the One mini, while ThreeUK has yet to get back to us. There’s no solid information on how much the device will cost on a monthly or one-off basis, but Carphone Warehouse is already accepting sim-free pre-orders for a very plausible £380. That same retailer is also saying that the phone is due to arrive on August 9th, but we’ll take that assertion with a pinch of environmentally-friendly salt.

HTC One Mini UK availability and pricing

HTC One Mini

Coming to Phones4u, O2, Vodafone and EE; first SIM-free prices starting to appear

Yesterday saw the official unveiling of the HTC One Mini — the manufacturer's miniaturized, lower-priced version of its current flagship. And we've published a full hands-on preview, walking through the device's features and comparing it to the full-sized One, as well as Samsung's rival Galaxy S4 Mini.

Over the past day we've started to see the first signs of when and where UK buyers will be able to pick up the device. Network operators O2 and Vodafone have confirmed on Twitter that they'll be offering the One Mini for sale — O2 says it's "coming soon," while Voda promises an August launch. Independent retailer Phones4u also has a pre-order page up for the silver One Mini, and promises £50 Google Play credit for pre-orders on EE, or £25 for all other networks.

Meanwhile an EE spokesperson confirmed to Android Central that it'll be offering the HTC One Mini on its 4G network, but didn't offer any pricing or release date.

Red HTC One now available in the UK

Red HTC One

'Glamor red' HTC One launches exclusively at Phones4u, available on contract

Right on schedule, the "glamor red" HTC One is now available to purchase from Phones4u in the UK. The retailer, which has exclusivity over the red HTC One in the UK, is offering the device on contracts from Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and EE starting at £31 per month. Right now there's no way to pick the phone up off-contract online — though brick-and-mortar P4U stores are often more accommodating to SIM-free buyers.

The red HTC One is — you guessed it — the same aluminum-backed phone we known and love, only with a different and more eye-catching coat of paint. Unfortunately there's still no official info on any plans to launch the red variant outside of the UK.

The Glamour Red version of the HTC One will be available exclusively at Phones4U, the UK mobile retailer, although we may see it roll out to carriers and other places soon-after.

Inside is all the same and the only difference is the glamour red colour, it will be available mid-July.
