Meitu Xiu Xiu’s Meitu Kiss Will Be First Smartphone With 8 Megapixel Front Facing Camera
Having an 8 megapixel rear camera on a smartphone is normal nowadays but having an 8 megapixel front camera is something else. A Chinese company called Mito Xiu Xiu is reportedly set to release the world’s first smartphone with an 8 megapixel front camera. The device which is called MeituKiss will be using Sony’s latest back illuminated lens and a Fujitsu image processor with an aperture of F / 2.2 making it comparable to most professional SLR cameras.
As of the moment only the details of the MeituKiss front camera have been revealed and while it isn’t official yet it’s already impressive. The only photo leaked so far is that of the packaging of the device with a pink and white theme. The outer box shows the brand logo on a white background.
Sources also point out that the developers are optimizing the camera on a hardware level rather than relying on application level optimization. This makes the device take better photos.
A photo detailing the development of the device also shows that it is already 76% complete which means that we should be seeing a working preview of the device pretty soon. It is reported that a press conference regarding the device will be held this coming May 16.
Here are some of the rumored specs of this device which is leaked on the web.

The use of a MediaTek MT6589 processor provides the device with 50% more power compared to an ARM Cortex A8 processor and is also five times more power efficient when compared to an ARM Cortex A7 single core processor.
The F /2.2 aperture of this device makes it take in more light thus reducing blurriness and makes you snap photos quickly.
While the front camera of this device is impressive enough we do hope that the company will even surpass this with their rear camera.

Enable HDR & Grid Mode for iPhone Front Camera
Ever thought of using HDR and Grid Mode for the front facing camera on iPhone? Well you can now practically enable the HDR mode on the front camera and enhance the picture quality. Ever since Apple released iOS4, not a single new feature has been introduced for the front camera. Although many tweaks has been made for the rear camera which is used as the primary camera on every iPhone, the front facing camera remains the same with no options but just a single capturing button.
Cydia store now has a tweak ‘Front HDR’ which brings HDR mode to the front camera. This tweak also adds Panorama and Grid options but unfortunately Panorama feature do not work as of now. Once the tweak is installed from the Cydia store, it automatically appears on the front camera app without needing to set up things individually. After installing, you will see ‘Options’ menu which will allow you to turn on the Grid and HDR.
There are two flaws in the app which should be removed by the developers. When you try to switch to the rear camera while the HDR mode is enabled on the front camera, Camera app freezes. Secondly the non-HDR photos which are saved along with the HDR photos are distorted so you need to toggle off ‘Keep Normal Photo’ under ‘Photos & Camera settings.
Front HDR is available for free on the Cydia store and is supported on iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and fifth-generation iPod touch running iOS6 or higher.

More Motorola X Phone Specs Surface Sounding a Little More Legit
Yesterday we woke to a nice little image of what seemed to be the Motorola X phone. It looked ridiculous. Many of us in the blogger world debunked it as a fake, and even the supposed specs seemed a little far fetched. Mainly the camera. It was reported with yesterday’s image that the rear camera was going to be 16 MP. That is a pretty huge step up, which suggests someone was just throwing out numbers.
Today we get more info on the specs from a more reliable source. Ausdroid got these reliable tips, and they have bumped down the camera from 16 MP 1o MP. A little strange since no cameras have been reported to have 10 MP. They also mentioned that they wanted to go for a 5-inch display, but are having trouble finding a screen supplier so they are dumbing it down to 4.7-inches. That does not make much sense to me. This phone has high buzz surrounding it and is backed by Google. How could they not find a screen supplier?
Too much misinformation going on with this phone, which still leads me to believe that it will not be showing up at Google I/O. Let us know what you guys think.

Sprint Force LTE handset leaks, due March 1st from ZTE
Sometimes tips come out of the blue: while one of our editors was out and about earlier today, someone sent him the Sprint product page above. Turns out it’s for a 4-inch Sprint-branded Android phone, the Force, which looks like a version of ZTE’s rumored Force that will conveniently work with the carrier’s sparkling new LTE installations. Specs are middling, with Android 4.0, an unnamed 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch Gorilla Glass adorned display, 5-megapixel rear camera, 1-megapixel front camera, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of ROM and a 1,730mAh battery. Still, that’ll give you quick connection speeds for $50 when it launches March 1st — presumably on a 2-year contract — joining its more upmarket 4G ZTE stablemate, the 4.5-inch Flash, at Sprint.

HTC M7 rumored to carry 4.3-’ultrapixel’ camera
Unannounced device also starting to appear in retailer inventory systems
As we count down the days to HTC's Feb. 19 announcement event, the rumors surrounding its upcoming "M7" handset are starting to intensify. The latest details to appear come from UK tech blog Pocket-Lint, which claims to have knowledge of some unique technology at work in the phone's rear camera.
Earlier rumors had suggested the device would pack a 13-megapixel camera, but Pocket-Lint, citing "sources familiar with the matter," says that's not quite true. Instead, it reports that the M7 camera will feature a 4.3 "ultrapixel" sensor consisting of three 4.3-megapixel sensor layers, one for each primary color, which combine to form a single image. So while technically a total of 13 megapixels will be captured, the end result will be a much sharper 4.3-megapixel image.

Pantech Discover coming to AT&T January 11th, brings 720p and 13MP camera for $50
Pantech’s built a reputation in the states as a budget brand, but that doesn’t mean it’s pushing out forgettable phones — on the contrary, the Korean manufacturer has cranked out solid devices like the Burst and Flex over the past year. To start off 2013, Pantech is bumping things up a notch by launching the Discover (what we previously saw as the Magnus) on AT&T January 11th. For $50 on contract, it’s actually a well-stocked handset: the Discover sports a 4.8-inch 720p display, 13MP rear camera / 2MP front-facing cam, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 Pro, NFC, Android 4.0 and a 2,100mAh battery. We’re pretty intrigued by the curvacious design; from the images, it brings back memories of the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc. On the software side, the Discover will come pre-loaded with the same Easy Experience Mode option that we saw on the Flex, as well as AT&T’s DriveMode app, which will send auto-replies to text messages when you’re driving. Official photos of HTC Deluxe DLX show off three color options
HTC’s yet to be released Deluxe DLX superphone (the international brother to Verizon’s new Droid DNA) spent some good time in front of the camera recently. These newer photos reveal that the 5-inch HD device will come in three color variations: white, black, and brown.
The specs on the Deluxe DLX are expected to be identical to the Droid DNA, including a true HD 5-inch (1920 x 1080) Super LCD 3 display at 440ppi, a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera with ImageSense, 2.1MP front facing camera with an 88 degree wide angle lens, 16GB of internal storage, 2020mAh battery, NFC, worldwide GSM capability, and Beats Audio.
The price and release date are still unknown, but the source of the images stated that we should expect more information on December 6th. With the holidays around the corner this could make the perfect gift for tech enthusiasts everywhere. Hit the break for more images.

Hands on with the HTC DROID DNA for Verizon Wireless [Video]
This morning in New York City, HTC and Verizon introduced the DROID DNA. There really weren’t any surprises since all the leaks seemed to be spot on. It will come with a 5.0-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super LCD 3 display, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, microSD slot, NFC, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and Sense 4+. My initial thoughts is that this phone is absolutely stunning. When I picked it up, I thought I was carrying a dummy unit it was so light. The display is by far the best display available on a smartphone, and I can’t wait to spend some more time with it. HTC DROID DNA confirmed in Verizon marketing materials
Verizon users have to be wondering whether to jump ship to AT&T or T-Mobile to grab the Nexus 4 or stay with their current carrier, get what is going to be probably the best phone available, and still enjoy LTE. I know many of you are wondering if the upcoming DROID DNA will actually land by the holidays. Well the above image was shown last night to several Verizon employees, and an HTC rep confirmed that it would be available by mid December. The image confirms what we already know: A 5-inch HD display (1080p), 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, Beats Audio, and Sense. They also confirmed that it will be $199 on contract and $599 off contract, which would be a pretty good deal for a phone of this magnitude. So who is staying with Verizon for this beast?
Pictures of Samsung Nexus 10
Google will be launching three new devices namely, Samsung Nexus 10, LG Nexus 4 and an updated Nexus 7 32 gig version. All the three devices are interesting, and like the Nexus 7 shook the tablet market, even the Samsung Nexus 10 is expected to do the same.
Nexus 10 is an interesting device. Even though it has not yet been launched, we know a lot about it, thanks to number of leaks from official as well as unofficial sources. A guide of Samsung Nexus 10 was leaked few days back and it gave us an outline and basic idea on how the device will look like. The basic design itself is very much similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 with the speakers on its face and a panel around the rear camera. The details revealed by the manual are also in line with the information that we already know from numerous leaks in the past few days. The picture of manual is of course a good leak, but how about pictures of the actual device?
Folks at BriefMobile claim to be the first to release pictures of the yet to be launched Samsung Nexus 10. The source has posted several pictures of the device and these snaps depict a Nexus and Samsung-branded tablet in the wild, and what’s good about these pictures is that the design of the tablet device is in agreement with what we saw in the leaked quick start guide, sporting a black panel around the rear camera, speakers on the sides and the nice Nexus branding on the rear panel.
Talking about the specs, below is what we know:

According to BriefMobile, the device they got their hands on is running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Yes, it’s called as Jelly Bean, so by all possibilities the device we are looking at is only a prototype. Some of the new software features that will be included in Android 4.2 (Key Lime Pie) include a new Gallery app, an improved Camera app, a new quick settings bar and capability to handle different user accounts.
The word has it that Samsung will be going against Apple’s iPad with this new nexus device, and seems like they’re on the right track. The 10.1” display that is included in this device comes with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. Using my quick calculation ability, the screen has a pixel density of 298.9 pixels per inch, and that substantially exceeds the pixel density of “Retina Display” that is featured on third gen Apple iPad (263.92 PPI). Google’s Nexus 10 will be equipped with 5 megapixel rear camera, NFC connectivity, WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0. What are your thoughts on this device? Let us know in the comment section below.

HTC DLX specs purportedly slip, stuff Snapdragon S4 Pro and 12MP camera into a 5-inch frame
Talk of HTC’s rumored, giant DLX has veered between the plausible and not-so-plausible. We might just toss the newest tip into that former category. Football4PDA, who’s developing a reputation for uncanny accuracy in leaks, has posted what’s claimed to be the core specifications of HTC’s first phablet. The DLX would mirror earlier expectations of a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro and a 5-inch, 1080p display, but push past the OneX+ in more ways than just physical heft: the extra space might just help it afford 1.5GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter and a larger-still (but non-removable) 2,500mAh battery. We’re not as much of a fan of the threadbare 16GB of storage that’s supposedly in the cards, though, even with a new Android 4.1.2 build in store. Provided that there’s more to the story than just 136 characters, the real point of contention is the ship date — having mostly cleared the decks between its September event and its One X+ introduction, HTC hasn’t left much time for the possibly Verizon-bound flagship to show its face.

AT&T announces the HTC One X+ and One VX as coming soon
Earlier HTC announced the One X+ as their newest flagship phone, but said that a separate announcement would take place for the U.S. Well AT&T didn’t take long to announce their intent to carry the quad-core beast as well as another phone called the One VX.
The One X+ (pictured above) will be the first quad-core phone in the U.S. with LTE capability thanks to the latest 1.7GHz Tegra 3 chipset. The rest of the specs are the same which include a 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display, 1GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 8MP rear camera with ImageSense, 1.6MP front camera, 2100mAh battery, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and Sense 4+. They didn’t announce pricing or when it will launch, but hopefully by the end of the month.
AT&T took this opportunity to introduce another HTC phone, the more economical One VX (pictured below). This one will sport a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540) LCD 2 display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 5MP rear camera with ImageSense, VGA (640 x 480) front facing camera, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and Sense 4.0. It will be 9.19mm thick and weigh 124.7 grams.
Again, no word on pricing or availability so stay tuned.
Motorola RAZR i initial photo and video samples
For what's ostensibly a mid-range phone, we've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of images produced by the Motorola RAZR i's camera during our first few hours with the phone. The device comes with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording — a spec it shares with just about every mid-to-high-end smartphone out there. But the images and video pumped out by the RAZR i are substantially above average. Maybe not HTC One X level, but certainly impressive given the class of the device.
In normal snapshot mode, image capture is near instant, something chipmaker Intel was keen take credit for in today's press conference. HDR mode takes a little longer to complete, but produces great results in bright outdoor scenes with a no noticeable ghosting. Helpfully, the camera app advises you to activate HDR mode where you're shooting images with very bright and dark areas. We did notice occasional discoloration in HDR images, however, likely the result of the post-processing and contrast enhancement that's employed by the phone's software. There are a few conspicuous absences in the built-in camera app, however, notably panorama mode. And there's only a sparse selection of effects, including black-and-white and sepia modes.
In our brief time recording sample video on the RAZR i, we were also pretty impressed with the footage produced. The frame rate was consistent, audio was relatively clear, and dynamic range was entirely reasonable.
So the overall picture is a positive one. If you're unconvinced, you can take a look at our sample shots and video after the break. Note that our RAZR i is running pre-release firmware, so the image quality in the retail version may vary somewhat.

Apple’s got a new camera in its brand new iPhone 5: 8-megapixels with a 3,264 x 2,448 backside-illuminated sensor, five-element lens, and f/2.4 aperture sits on the rear of the new device. “Same as the iPhone 4S, but thinner.” 25 percent thinner in fact, to match the now slimmer iPhone. The branding remains the same — it’s still the iSight — but a few new bells and whistles have been added alongside the thinning. A new dynamic low light mode, for one, and a fancy sapphire crystal cover. The phone’s new A6 processor also helps out, offering a “smart filter” for better color matching, as well as speedier capture and still capture during video.
In terms of functionality, there’s a new panorama mode, that allows picture stitching for multiple images into one larger shot (a whopping 28 megapixels in total). Photo sharing is also getting expanded, adding more social functionality — images can be shared with multiple friends or family members, and then those folks can comment.
But you only care about video, don’t you? You’ll be glad to hear that it’s getting expanded as well. The rear camera still offesr 30fps 1080p HD capture, albeit with better image stabilization. The front facing camera now features 720p video for all your extreme close-ups. Speaking of FaceTime, it will be available via LTE on the iPhone 5. But on all mobile networks? We’re not so sure just yet.

Pantech Magnus Pics Leaked, Heading to AT&T
Pantech is usually known as a budget-friendly handset manufacturer, but according to a leak from Engadget that may all change with the soon-to-be-released P9090, aka the Magnus. This higher-end GSM based phone is heading to AT&T with an 8MP rear camera (with LED flash), a front-facing camera and will run Ice Cream sandwich or possibly even Jelly Bean. Engadget expects this new handset to be powered by a Qualcomm MSM8960 dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, a 720p display and LTE connectivity. No pricing or announcements have been made by Pantech or AT&T, but we’ll keep you posted.

RAZR M 4G LTE leaks out full details, has 4.3-inch qHD display
What we're seeing above are leaked images of the latest offering from Motorola and Verizon, the RAZR M 4G LTE. Coming out just ahead of Motorola's Sept. 5 event, the device seems like a logical progression from the original RAZR on Verizon, with a less distinguished camera hump and some familiar design features — like on-screen buttons — of recent Motorola devices. Other specs are as follows:
- 4.3-inch 540×960 (qHD) Super AMOLED display
- dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor
- 1GB of RAM
- 8MP rear camera, 3MP front camera
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

It took a little longer than some of those other cases, but Twelve South‘s BookBook for iPhone 5 is now shipping en masse. Some of those who pre-ordered began receiving their units as early as last week, but if you missed that wave, there’s no need to gesture for the panic button. The outfit’s newest wallet / iPhone case is actually more than just a resized version of the prior one; indeed, it finally figured out how to add a rear camera hole without worry of flash echo, and there’s a new snap-in mechanism that holds your phone in place. The clever exterior remains largely the same, and there’s still room for your most important IDs and credit cards as you flip it open. We were pretty big fans of the prior build, but the addition of the camera hole makes this one a no-brainer for fans of the style.
