Red HTC One On Sale at UK Retail Site
When HTC announced their latest flagship device, HTC One, the company had said that the device would only be available in silver and black. But today, to our surprise, a UK retailer has listed a red version of the device on their website. Now, this is more surprising as during the launch when rumors of a red version of the device were up on the internet, HTC outrightly denied them.
Earlier when the device was launched, a red color version of the device was spotted on HTC’s website and we became pretty excited too but were later on informed that it was a mistake by one of their coders. Now when the red version is actually up on a retailer website we are not quite sure whether it’s real or not.
A splash of red would indeed look good on the sleek device and we would really love to have red as an option. Moreover, seeing that the original version on HTC website and the current version up on the handtec website are quite similar, we feel that this device may actually be real.
However, unless and until HTC announces a red version of the device or the retailer starts shipping red HTC One’s, we can’t really prove that the listed device is legit.
Anyways stay tuned to this post for more updates on the red HTC One.

UK Retailer: Samsung Galaxy S4 Most Pre-registered Device in History
According to UK retailer Carphone Warehouse, the Samsung Galaxy S4 was the most pre-registered device in the company’s history, which we are assuming includes the iPhone. Their pre-registration process does not mean that customers have pre-ordered the device, it simply means that they signed up to receive more information as it becomes available. When compared [...]

HTC One SV reduced to £260 by UK retailer for one week only

We're big fans of the HTC One SV around here, that's no secret. It's a beautifully designed and manufactured smartphone that offers LTE data speeds at an affordable price point. UK retailer Expansys has announced a 'deal of the week' on the HTC One SV that sees the price cut to just £259.99 SIM free and unlocked. We don't get the sexy looking red version, but both the blue and white ones are up for grabs.
By our reckoning — for this week at least — this price point makes the HTC One SV about the cheapest 4G LTE enabled device you can pick up on the British market. Despite the more budget oriented price, the One SV still offers a premium look and feel, and the same Sense experience as some of it's bigger brothers. Picking one up? Jump into the comments or the HTC One SV forums and tell us about it.

Sony Xperia Z to be publically demoed at UK retailer ahead of release

Ever since the 5-inch Sony Xperia Z debuted back in Las Vegas at CES, a lot of folks have been eager to get their hands on one and try it out. That includes certain members of the AC staff that didn't make the trip to Vegas. Thankfully — in the UK at least — there's a way to play with the Xperia Z before its general release thanks to a high street retailer.
Starting tomorrow, Feb 15, Phones4U will be displaying demo units of the Xperia Z at more than 300 of their retail locations for eager consumers to try before they think about parting with their hard earned. The Xperia Z will then be available at the retailer starting Feb 28 and will be available free on a two-year contract starting at £36. Additionally, the first 1000 pre-orders will receive a pair of Sony MDR-1R headphones which themselves retail at Sony for £299.
I know where I'm headed tomorrow now, and if you happen to do the same in the coming days, be sure to jump into the forums and let us know what you think. Full press release can be found after the break.

UK retailer taking Sony Xperia Z pre-orders [update: price changed]

Update: It seems Expansys' original price of £399.99 for the Xperia Z was an error, as the retailer has just changed its pre-order price to £529.99, in line with other European stores. Bad news for anyone in the UK hoping to bag an Xperia Z on the cheap.
Original story: With any new phone announcement comes the inevitable discussion of pricing and availability, which are almost never revealed at the initial press conference. So it is with the Sony Xperia Z, which we first saw us at last week's CES, and has appeared online with prices up to £530 ($850) in the following days.
Nexus 7 sees another price cut at one UK retailer, now just £169.99

We're all looking forward to Google's Monday event in NYC, right? We're pretty sure we know what we're going to see, and we're pretty sure it includes some new variations in storage size and potential cellular connectivity for the Nexus 7. So, if you've been toying with the idea of buying one, you have a choice. Buy one, or wait. Simple.
But, if you're in the UK, there may be less reason to wait. High street retailer Currys/PC World has dropped the price of the 16GB Nexus 7 yet again, this time to an incredible £169.99. That's just over £10 more than the Google Play Store price of the — now out of stock — 8GB Nexus 7. The rumors are rife of a 32GB incumbent taking on the price point of the current 16GB, but, a deal's still a deal. And this is a deal.

Nexus 4 pre-order page goes live early at UK retailer, release slated for Oct. 30

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, new '360-degree' camera, 'gesture typing' and Gorilla Glass 2
UK retailer Carphone Warehouse has prematurely opened up its Nexus 4 pre-order page, laying bare all the details of the next Nexus smartphone from Google and LG. In addition to confirming already-leaked details, the CPW listing reveals the presence of "Android 4.2 Jelly Bean" and Corning Gorilla Glass 2. As for what's new in 4.2, the retailer claims an "amazing 360-degree camera" and Swype-like "gesture typing" in the stock keyboard.
The phone is listed with 8GB of storage, so there appears to be no sign of the 16GB model just yet.
Price-wise, the Nexus 4 is shown as available for free on Vodafone and O2 contracts starting at £31 per month. No SIM-free price is listed, unfortunately.
Interestingly, Carphone Warehouse says to "pre-order now for delivery on the 30th October," suggesting the Nexus 4 could launch at retail immediately after the Oct. 29 announcement event.
Update: The Verge has received a photo from the Carphone Warehouse inventory system, which shows the 8GB Nexus 4 priced at £389.95 SIM-free. That's considerably lower than the Galaxy Nexus launch price, but still not a small amount of cash.

If you're in the UK, you can get hold of the handset in this color at a significant discount, for today only, thanks to an offer from Expansys UK. The retailer is offering the garnet red Galaxy S3 SIM-free for £399, a significant markdown from the starting price of £550. A bright red smartphone might not be for everyone, but if you're in the market for the unique-looking phone, this is probably the cheapest you'll find it on this side of the pond.
Expansys says the deal will run, while stocks last, until 11pm UK time today.

HTC One X cut to £379 at UK retailer for today only

As HTC's likely to show off new devices in New York City on Wednesday, here's a chance to pick up one of the company's earlier stand-out products at a knock-down price. UK retailer Expansys is offering the international HTC One X in white for today only for £379.99, almost £200 less than the original launch price. The version on offer is the unlocked Tegra 3-based HSPA+ model, with 32GB of internal storage.
HTC is rumored to be preparing a spec-refreshed "One X+" for launch in the coming weeks, but If you're looking for a chance to pick up the original at a cut-down price, you'll probably struggle to find a better deal than this for the next few months. The deal is available for the next twelve hours or so at the time of writing, and runs until 11pm UK time today, Sept. 17.
You can find more details at the source link below. And remember we'll be live in New York City this Wednesday to cover whatever's next from HTC.

AT&T-branded Xperia T shows up on UK retailer site
It looks like AT&T might be thinking about carrying the Sony Xperia T soon. UK retailer Phones4U accidentally posted a press shot of the Sony Xperia T with AT&T branding on its listing.
While this isn’t hard confirmation that AT&T is set to bring the device out it’s a rather clean render and there’s no reason to believe it was doctored by either Phones4U or Sony.
Also note the two separators on the AT&T render — that design is not present in the international version which could be further proof that this is a shot of a possible AT&T version.
We’re not sure when AT&T might be bringing the device out if they are, in fact, doing so, but considering it was just unveiled last week in Berlin we’d say it’s not exactly right around the corner.
Nothing we say is worth more than any official word, though, so we’ll be waiting to hear more from AT&T in the coming weeks or months. [via AndroidCentral]
Black Samsung Galaxy S3 to Launch in Early October According to UK Retailer Clove

Retailer confirms black Samsung Galaxy S III with 64GB storage due for October release
Within the past ten days, we have seen photos of a black Samsung Galaxy S III and reports of retailer’s internal databases listing a black version of the popular smartphone. Now, UK retailer Clove has announced on their blog that the new color will be available starting in early October. Clove does not yet have pricing information, but they indicate they are ramping up to start accepting pre-orders.
The color news is not the only development of interest for potential Galaxy S III buyers. Clove also reports the phone will come with 64GB of internal storage as we had previously reported.

Huawei Ascend P1 goes on sale in the UK SIM-free

If you've been looking forward to picking up the Huawei Ascend P1 SIM-free, today is your lucky day. The device is now in stock at UK retailer Clove and will set you back a respectable £309 + VAT. The Ascend P1 may not have been getting the same attention as the likes of the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3 but specs wise it is a pretty decent piece of hardware.
Running Android 4.0 and powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU the Huawei Ascend P1 isn't to be sniffed at. With a 4.3 Super AMOLED screen, an 8MP BSI camera and Dolby Sound System new P1 owners should have plenty to get excited about. It may not be the biggest and the best in todays fast-paced smartphone market, but we gave it a great review and sales should be pretty good.

Galaxy SIII confirmed in black by UK retailer
There’s been a few rumors of Samsung adding a 4th color to the Galaxy S III line, already having white, pebble blue and red (AT&T only). After having a leaked screenshot of the Carphone Warehouse inventory, now there’s confirmation of that with black as the new option for the device.
UK retailer Mobile Fun is taking pre-orders and expects to ship it in 4-6 weeks. The price is £500 for the 16GB version.
There’s no word on availability in the US or anywhere else outside the UK but we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything.

UK retailer confirms black Galaxy S3, new color due ‘in 4-6 weeks’
Following rumors of the handset's existence, we now have confirmation that the international Samsung Galaxy S III (Galaxy S3) will be arriving soon in black. UK retailer MobileFun confirms on its blog that it'll be stocking the black S3, alongside the existing blue and white versions.
The retailer is taking pre-orders now, and expects the phones to ship in 4-6 weeks. Pricing for the 16GB model is in line with other Galaxy S3 phones, at £500 inc. VAT.
Rumors of a black Galaxy S3 started to emerge late last week, when Samsung published images of what seemed to be the new color option on its official Facebook page. This was later backed up by a leaked inventory shot from the Carphone Warehouse, showing the black S3 alongside the white and blue variants.
So if that pebble blue S3 isn't doing it for you, you should only have a few more weeks to wait before the black version arrives. Of course, it's worth remembering we're talking about the international model here — any U.S. availability has yet to be confirmed.

HTC EVO 3D on sale for £229 in the UK
The SIM-free price of the European (GSM) HTC EVO 3D has been reduced once again by one UK retailer. Following its initial price cut to £250 last month, ASDA Direct has now dropped the EVO's price tag to £229.00, making it considerably cheaper than just about every other high-end handset out there. When the EVO 3D launched in Europe last August, it was priced at over £500 off-contract, so this represents a significant mark-down (and perhaps says a little about sales of the device on that side of the pond).
The EVO 3D's internals may no longer be bleeding-edge, but it's still a high-end product — specs include a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 3D display at qHD (960×540) resolution. On the software side, you'll find Android 2.3 Gingerbread alongside HTC Sense 3.0, and the phone has been promised an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich later in the year.
Even if you don't care about 3D (and we're mostly indifferent ourselves, these days), this is still the most smartphone muscle you're going to get for £229. If you're tempted, you'll find more info at the source link.

UK retailer withdraws Transformer Prime, blames ‘faults’ and stock availability
British retailer Clove Technology has taken the ASUS Transformer Prime off sale today, saying "faults" reported by customers and difficulty in obtaining stock are behind the decision.
In a post on its official blog, Clove says stock levels have been a "real issue", and despite being able to obtain some Transformer Prime units earlier than expected, it's decided to withdraw the tablet from sale due to complaints of faults in some units.
The news will come as a blow to ASUS, which has already seen the Transformer Prime's launch tainted by poor availability and reports of GPS and Wifi issues in some units. ASUS has insisted that none of the Transformer Prime models sold in the UK are affected, so it's particularly surprising to see a UK retailer pulling the device from sale for this reason. It's also worth noting that Clove is the first retailer to take such a drastic step, and that the Prime remains on sale at other outlets.

Official Galaxy Nexus accessories delayed, UK retailer says
News is coming out of the UK today from retailer Clove Technology, says that we're going to have to carry on waiting for the official Samsung Galaxy Nexus accessories as the release date has slipped back to February.
As we previously reported, Clove were expecting to start shipping the accessories mid-January, but a statement on their blog today tells a sadly different story. Citing delays from Samsung as the cause, their expected shipping date has now slipped back to around Feb. 13. Disappointing, to be sure. Let's hope somebody's able to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

This is what the white Galaxy Nexus looks like
This morning UK retailer Clove gives us our first proper look at the white Samsung Galaxy Nexus, with some real, official promotional images. You might notice it's a bit different to the picture that was doing the rounds previously — turns rival retailer MobileFun fudged things yesterday and used a fan render on their site rather than an official photo.
In any case, what you see above is in fact what'll start shipping in the UK during the week commencing Feb. 6. Clove's asking price for the white Nexus is £500 (~$780), which is about the same as you'll pay for the black version in the UK right now.

32GB GSM Galaxy Nexus coming early February, says UK retailer

In addition to the recently-outed white Galaxy Nexus and Sprint 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus, it seems like the elusive 32GB GSM version is now on the horizon, too. So far all the GSM-flavored Nexuses sold in Europe and Asia (and imported into the U.S.) have been of the 16GB variety, but according to one British retailer, the 32GB version should be available in a little over a month.
On its official blog, Handtec reveals that the first batch of 32GB Nexuses is expected during the week commencing Feb. 6. That just happens to be the same week the 16GB white Galaxy Nexus is due to land in the UK. Pricing is still up in the air, but we've seen the 32GB model listed elsewhere for an eye-watering £600 (~$930), so you'll likely pay a pretty penny for that extra 16GB of storage if you take the plunge next month.

XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition get UK pricing
The much-leaked Motorola XOOM 2 and its little brother the XOOM 2 Media edition got an official UK unveiling today, and now the prices are coming as well. According to UK retailer Clove, the 10.1-inch XOOM 2 will be £325 and the Media Edition will be £299, both before a hefty value added tax. Both prices are for the Wifi editions.

After a little price conversion, that comes out to$520 and $477, respectively. After value added tax, those prices jump to $624 and $572. It sounds expensive in US currency, but the XOOM 2 models are in line with current prices in the UK – for example, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi version currently costs £399, while the original Motorola XOOM is now £274.99, down from £449.99 in March. A Carphone Warehouse ad put the XOOM 2 Media Edition at 399 Euros, or about $550.
What can we learn about US pricing from this information? That when the XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition arrive, they’ll be competitive with current Android Honeycomb tablets in the same price range. Prices for consumer electronics in Europe in general are higher than they are here, and in the United Kingdom that’s even more true.
As far as hardware goes, both XOOM 2 models have upgraded to a 1.2Ghz dual-core OMAP processor, skipping the Nvidia Tegra 2, just like the recently-released ATRIX 2. There still isn’t a version of the Tegra 2 available with a clock speed of more than 1 gigahertz, so manufacturers may be waiting for the Tegra 3 before committing to more high-end hardware. The upcoming Asus Transformer Prime is expected to use the quad-core Tegra 3, and an official announcement from Asus is tentatively scheduled for November 9th.

Motorola Xoom 2, Xoom 2 Media Edition get priced in the UK
Hot on the heels of Motorola's Xoom 2 announcement this morning, UK retailer Clove has given us the first details of the British pricing for both of Moto's new Android tablets. The 10.1-inch Motorola Xoom 2 will sell for £390.00, while the 8.2-inch Xoom 2 Media Edition will £358.80. Both prices include VAT at 20%.
Do a little currency conversion and these prices may seem a little steep in US dollars, at $624 and $574 respectively. However it's important to remember that US prices are almost always cheaper when it comes to consumer electronics. We'd be surprised to see either of these sell for much more than $400 in the US.
Clove also confirms what many suspected — the 1.2 GHz CPU powering both new Xooms is indeed a TI OMAP4 chip similar to what you might find inside a Galaxy Nexus or Droid Razr.

Rumor: Motorola Unveiling XOOM 2 in London Tomorrow
Take this one with the smallest grain of salt you can find. According to a site named OneMobileRing, Motorola has issued invites to press for an event at their UK offices tomorrow, November 3rd, to unveil a new product. A new phone? Perhaps.
We already know the UK is getting the RAZR so that’s a bit out of the question. They suggest it could be for the Motorola XOOM 2, a device that we’ve been seeing and hearing a bit of lately.
If true, the location would make sense considering UK retailer Carphone Warehouse is preparing an ad for a soon-to-come circular for the device where it’s apparently “everything a tablet should be.”
It will supposedly be here in time for Christmas and considering we’re currently in the biggest shopping month of the year, I’d say there’s strong reason to believe that we definitely will see an announcement shortly. We’ll be sure to keep you all posted on any further developments. [Thanks Mike!]
