Pricing of the Moto 360 revealed by UK retailer

Moto 360

We’ve known plenty about the Moto 360 over the past few weeks including info on the hardware it is expected to pack. But the pricing has been somewhat of a mystery to us. That has cleared out today with a retailer in the UK sharing details on the expected price of the upcoming Android Wear smartwatch. The retailer has listed the Moto 360 for £199.99 ($337), which means American customers might be able to get it for $300 when the device is officially launched sometime next month.

This is well in line with what was expected as the Moto 360 is more of a premium smartwatch due to the materials used in its making. The LG G Watch on the other hand is expected to be priced more aggressively at $200, which makes sense as it doesn’t feature any groundbreaking hardware. The G Watch is expected to be given away for free to attendees of the Google I/O event later this month, so hopefully we’ll know something about the Moto 360 by then as well.

UK retailer aiming to launch Chromecast on March 1

Chromecast-iFixit_Teardown_02

Folks over in the United Kingdom still do not have access to Google’s Chromecast, but according to a listing by retailer Currys, that is about to change. The UK retailer has March 1 as a potential release date. We say potential because a Google spokesperson told The Next Web that it is merely a provisional date that has yet to be confirmed. Hopefully the wait will be worth it for people in the United Kingdom as Google just opened up the Cast SDK to everyone.

LG G Pad 8.3 down to £200 at UK retailer

LG G Pad 8.3

Larger-screened tablet for the same price as Google's Nexus 7

LG's G Pad 8.3 is one of the more impressive mid-sized Android tablets available today, with an 8.3-inch 1920×1200-resolution screen, a metal body and a Snapdragon 600 CPU. It's also got LG's colorful, love-it-or-loate-it Android UI, but that's easy enough to pare back if it's not your cup of tea. In any case we're starting to see the G Pad appearing at discounted prices in the UK, where it debuted around the £260 mark in October.

UK retailer Expansys is offering the 16GB G Pad for £199.99 — within 99 pence of Google's base Nexus 7 model, which comes with a smaller screen and slightly less powerful CPU. It's not a Nexus, meaning you won't get speedy updates or the pure Android software experience, but still, the G Pad 8.3 is a fine tablet for this price.

If you're on the fence, be sure to check out our full review of the LG G Pad 8.3, linked below.

Moto X down to £299 at UK retailer after launch day price drop

Moto X

Clove selling Motorola's latest for £90 less than the RRP

When the Moto X was first announced for the UK market, many were less than thrilled at the initial launch price of £380, in light of the phone's highly competitive pricing elsewhere. But today there's good news for UK buyers wanting to pick up a Moto X without parting with quite so much cash, as one UK retailer has the device for around £90 less than the price elsewhere.

Clove Technology, which initially listed the device at £330, has knocked its Moto X price down to £299 plus shipping today. Existing orders, Clove says, will have the £30 difference refunded, and devices will begin shipping from next Monday, Feb. 3. So if you can wait out the weekend, this would seem to be among the best deals around for picking up the Moto X in the UK. Clove's stock is of the 16GB black model — the white model is exclusive to Phones4u for now, and Motorola has previously told us that the 32GB version won't be coming to the UK.

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact gets a UK pre-launch price cut

Android Central

One UK retailer drops the price to £399.00 as we get closer to being able to buy one

Sony dropped the Z1 Compact on us recently at CES in Las Vegas, and while we can't actually buy it yet here in the UK at least we're already seeing the first price cut. Online retailer Clove Technology has dropped £30 off its earlier pricing for Sony's latest Android handset, bringing it down to £399 including VAT.

Comparing the Clove pricing to rival UK retailers shows it as being £50 cheaper than the likes of Carphone Warehouse and Expansys. You'll have to wait until mid-February – Carphone Warehouse will begin shipping on January 31 – but it's a decent chunk of change to save just for waiting a couple of weeks. To pre-order, hit up the source link below, where all four colors will be eventually be available, though black only initially. Personally, I'd be all over the lime one. How about you?

Moto G shells and flip covers now available from UK retailer

Android Central

Brighten up your new Moto G with a colorful back and matching flip cover

Since the Moto G went on sale, one of the most frequent questions has been surrounding availability of the different colored backs and flip covers. UK retailer Clove Technology now has a range of both on sale to buy now, with the backs costing just £8.99 and the flip covers a very reasonable £18.99.

Red, blue, violet and the rather fetching yellow are all available in the back covers, while the flip cover has a turquoise and white option to add to those in place of the yellow. The Moto G is a ridiculously affordable Android smartphone, and the accessories are equally so. Head on over to the source link below to get your order on.

Nexus 5 cases and covers spotted on UK retailer’s site

Nexus 5 Press Image

The LG made Nexus 5 smartphone is still far from an official announcement, but a couple of cases and covers for the smartphone are already up order on a UK retailer’s site.  This Nexus 5 case can be found on Mobile Fun UK, which specializes in selling mobile products and accessories in the region.

We’re not sure if these cases are legit, but it does seem to match with what we know about the Nexus 5 so far. All these cases are up for pre order and none of them are shipping out just yet, so this might well be the real deal. We will have to wait until the end of October to see if the Nexus 5 will actually be a steady fit with these cases.

Nexus 5 Cases

The Nexus 5 is a poorly kept secret as a leaked user manual of the smartphone revealed all that we needed to know. The handset is set to feature a 4.96 inch 1080p display, Android 4.4 KitKat, an 8MP OIS camera and a Snapdragon 800 SoC. It was further revealed yesterday that the smartphone will be launching in two different storage variants and battery capacities. The smartphone is set to be announced along with the ASUS made Nexus 10 tablet and Android 4.4 KitKat on October 30.

White Nexus 4 re-appears on UK retailer website

white-nexus-4

After dropping the white Nexus 4 from the US Google Play store, it has re-appeared on Expansys, a UK retailer who has managed to grab hold of stock after Google said the limited time offer had finished.

The only place with white Nexus 4 stock sold out is the US, whereas other places like the UK and Canada are just getting the new smartphone colour choice, almost 8 months into the smartphones life.

Technically the only difference between the black and white version is the different coat of paint. Personally we love the black version with the texture only seen in certain light, but that is just personal preference and we are sure many have grabbed the white Nexus 4.

Currently, Expansys is only selling the 16GB version of the white Nexus 4, for £309 ($480) off contract. There is no word on an 8GB version, Google always seemed to sell out of 8GB units quick and all that was left was the 16GB version.

If you are in the UK and still have not picked up a white Nexus 4, now may be a good time to do it. It is still priced the same as it was at launch and with rumours of the new Nexus smartphone being developed by Motorola for release in Q4 this year, it may be worth waiting a few months to grab the latest Nexus.

Red HTC One On Sale at UK Retail Site

When HTC announced their latest flagship device, HTC One, the company had said that the device would only be available in silver and black. But today, to our surprise, a UK retailer has listed a red version of the device on their website. Now, this is more surprising as during the launch when rumors of a red version of the device were up on the internet, HTC outrightly denied them.

red htc one

Earlier when the device was launched, a red color version of the device was spotted on HTC’s website and we became pretty excited too but were later on informed that it was a mistake by one of their coders. Now when the red version is actually up on a retailer website we are not quite sure whether it’s real or not.

A splash of red would indeed look good on the sleek device and we would really love to have red as an option. Moreover, seeing that the original version on HTC website and the current version up on the handtec website are quite similar, we feel that this device may actually be real.

However, unless and until HTC announces a red version of the device or the retailer starts shipping red HTC One’s, we can’t really prove that the listed device is legit.

Anyways stay tuned to this post for more updates on the red HTC One.

UK Retailer: Samsung Galaxy S4 Most Pre-registered Device in History

According to UK retailer Carphone Warehouse, the Samsung Galaxy S4 was the most pre-registered device in the company’s history, which we are assuming includes the iPhone. HTC One SV reduced to £260 by UK retailer for one week only

Android Central

We're big fans of the HTC One SV around here, that's no secret. It's a beautifully designed and manufactured smartphone that offers LTE data speeds at an affordable price point. UK retailer Expansys has announced a 'deal of the week' on the HTC One SV that sees the price cut to just £259.99 SIM free and unlocked. We don't get the sexy looking red version, but both the blue and white ones are up for grabs.

By our reckoning — for this week at least — this price point makes the HTC One SV about the cheapest 4G LTE enabled device you can pick up on the British market. Despite the more budget oriented price, the One SV still offers a premium look and feel, and the same Sense experience as some of it's bigger brothers. Picking one up? Jump into the comments or the HTC One SV forums and tell us about it.

Sony Xperia Z to be publically demoed at UK retailer ahead of release

Android Central

Ever since the 5-inch Sony Xperia Z debuted back in Las Vegas at CES, a lot of folks have been eager to get their hands on one and try it out. That includes certain members of the AC staff that didn't make the trip to Vegas. Thankfully — in the UK at least — there's a way to play with the Xperia Z before its general release thanks to a high street retailer.

Starting tomorrow, Feb 15, Phones4U will be displaying demo units of the Xperia Z at more than 300 of their retail locations for eager consumers to try before they think about parting with their hard earned. The Xperia Z will then be available at the retailer starting Feb 28 and will be available free on a two-year contract starting at £36. Additionally, the first 1000 pre-orders will receive a pair of Sony MDR-1R headphones which themselves retail at Sony for £299.

I know where I'm headed tomorrow now, and if you happen to do the same in the coming days, be sure to jump into the forums and let us know what you think. Full press release can be found after the break.

UK retailer taking Sony Xperia Z pre-orders [update: price changed]

Android Central

Update: It seems Expansys' original price of £399.99 for the Xperia Z was an error, as the retailer has just changed its pre-order price to £529.99, in line with other European stores. Bad news for anyone in the UK hoping to bag an Xperia Z on the cheap.

Original story: With any new phone announcement comes the inevitable discussion of pricing and availability, which are almost never revealed at the initial press conference. So it is with the Sony Xperia Z, which we first saw us at last week's CES, and has appeared online with prices up to £530 ($850) in the following days.

Nexus 7 sees another price cut at one UK retailer, now just £169.99

Android Central

We're all looking forward to Google's Monday event in NYC, right? We're pretty sure we know what we're going to see, and we're pretty sure it includes some new variations in storage size and potential cellular connectivity for the Nexus 7. So, if you've been toying with the idea of buying one, you have a choice. Buy one, or wait. Simple.

But, if you're in the UK, there may be less reason to wait. High street retailer Currys/PC World has dropped the price of the 16GB Nexus 7 yet again, this time to an incredible £169.99. That's just over £10 more than the Google Play Store price of the — now out of stock — 8GB Nexus 7. The rumors are rife of a 32GB incumbent taking on the price point of the current 16GB, but, a deal's still a deal. And this is a deal.

Nexus 4 pre-order page goes live early at UK retailer, release slated for Oct. 30

Android Central

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, new '360-degree' camera, 'gesture typing' and Gorilla Glass 2

UK retailer Carphone Warehouse has prematurely opened up its Nexus 4 pre-order page, laying bare all the details of the next Nexus smartphone from Google and LG. In addition to confirming already-leaked details, the CPW listing reveals the presence of "Android 4.2 Jelly Bean" and Corning Gorilla Glass 2. As for what's new in 4.2, the retailer claims an "amazing 360-degree camera" and Swype-like "gesture typing" in the stock keyboard.

The phone is listed with 8GB of storage, so there appears to be no sign of the 16GB model just yet.

Price-wise, the Nexus 4 is shown as available for free on Vodafone and O2 contracts starting at £31 per month. No SIM-free price is listed, unfortunately.

Interestingly, Carphone Warehouse says to "pre-order now for delivery on the 30th October," suggesting the Nexus 4 could launch at retail immediately after the Oct. 29 announcement event.

Update: The Verge has received a photo from the Carphone Warehouse inventory system, which shows the 8GB Nexus 4 priced at £389.95 SIM-free. That's considerably lower than the Galaxy Nexus launch price, but still not a small amount of cash.

AT&T-branded Xperia T shows up on UK retailer site

It looks like AT&T might be thinking about carrying the Sony Xperia T soon. UK retailer Phones4U accidentally posted a press shot of the Sony Xperia T with AT&T branding on its listing.

While this isn’t hard confirmation that AT&T is set to bring the device out it’s a rather clean render and there’s no reason to believe it was doctored by either Phones4U or Sony.

Also note the two separators on the AT&T render — that design is not present in the international version which could be further proof that this is a shot of a possible AT&T version.

We’re not sure when AT&T might be bringing the device out if they are, in fact, doing so, but considering it was just unveiled last week in Berlin we’d say it’s not exactly right around the corner.

Nothing we say is worth more than any official word, though, so we’ll be waiting to hear more from AT&T in the coming weeks or months. [via AndroidCentral]

Huawei Ascend P1 goes on sale in the UK SIM-free

Android Central

If you've been looking forward to picking up the Huawei Ascend P1 SIM-free, today is your lucky day. The device is now in stock at UK retailer Clove and will set you back a respectable £309 + VAT. The Ascend P1 may not have been getting the same attention as the likes of the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3 but specs wise it is a pretty decent piece of hardware.

Running Android 4.0 and powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU the Huawei Ascend P1 isn't to be sniffed at. With a 4.3 Super AMOLED screen, an 8MP BSI camera and Dolby Sound System new P1 owners should have plenty to get excited about. It may not be the biggest and the best in todays fast-paced smartphone market, but we gave it a great review and sales should be pretty good.

UK retailer Mobile Fun is taking pre-orders and expects to ship it in 4-6 weeks. The price is £500 for the 16GB version.

UK retailer confirms black Galaxy S3, new color due ‘in 4-6 weeks’

Android CentralFollowing rumors of the handset's existence, we now have confirmation that the international Samsung Galaxy S III (Galaxy S3) will be arriving soon in black. UK retailer MobileFun confirms on its blog that it'll be stocking the black S3, alongside the existing blue and white versions.

The retailer is taking pre-orders now, and expects the phones to ship in 4-6 weeks. Pricing for the 16GB model is in line with other Galaxy S3 phones, at £500 inc. VAT.

Rumors of a black Galaxy S3 started to emerge late last week, when Samsung published images of what seemed to be the new color option on its official Facebook page. This was later backed up by a leaked inventory shot from the Carphone Warehouse, showing the black S3 alongside the white and blue variants.

So if that pebble blue S3 isn't doing it for you, you should only have a few more weeks to wait before the black version arrives. Of course, it's worth remembering we're talking about the international model here — any U.S. availability has yet to be confirmed.

HTC EVO 3D on sale for £229 in the UK

EVO 3D

The SIM-free price of the European (GSM) HTC EVO 3D has been reduced once again by one UK retailer. Following its initial price cut to £250 last month, ASDA Direct has now dropped the EVO's price tag to £229.00, making it considerably cheaper than just about every other high-end handset out there. When the EVO 3D launched in Europe last August, it was priced at over £500 off-contract, so this represents a significant mark-down (and perhaps says a little about sales of the device on that side of the pond).

The EVO 3D's internals may no longer be bleeding-edge, but it's still a high-end product — specs include a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 3D display at qHD (960×540) resolution. On the software side, you'll find Android 2.3 Gingerbread alongside HTC Sense 3.0, and the phone has been promised an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich later in the year.

Even if you don't care about 3D (and we're mostly indifferent ourselves, these days), this is still the most smartphone muscle you're going to get for £229. If you're tempted, you'll find more info at the source link.

UK Retailer Clove Pulls Transformer Primes From Store Shelves – Tablet Allegedly Not Working Properly

This image has no alt text

Citing quality control issues, UK retailer, Clove, has pulled the ASUS Transformer Prime from their store shelves until further notice. They revealed the news via their blog saying,

“Because of complaints of faults with the model we took the decision to thoroughly test stock before fulfilling any orders. We are at this time not satisfied that all units we could provide you with are working correctly, and performing to the standard we expect of the unit. We have therefore taken the decision until further notice stop selling the ASUS Transformer Prime.”

Although Clove specifically didn’t mention GPS problems on the device, that has largely been the complaint most users have been reporting since the supertablet’s launch. ASUS was quick to respond to Clove’s claims saying in a statement,

ASUS is not aware of any quality issues with the Transformer Prime. We have already issued a statement regarding the GPS module, and provided a number of options to our customers. We have conducted extensive testing on the Transformer Prime in laboratory conditions and the device is performing as expected in all areas and to all of our required parameters.

ASUS prides itself on the rigorous testing of all products to ensure the highest quality possible. We refute any and all claims from third parties regarding the quality of our products.

Stock availability to-date has been constrained due to massive demand for the Transformer Prime. Large quantities of stock is arriving on a weekly basis and we expect to see increased availability within the UK shortly.

In short, ASUS wants you to know that whether or not Clove will stock the Prime, you shouldn’t have a hard time finding the tablet at other UK retailers in the coming weeks.
